Wouldn't bother with a Cappo now mate - Finding a decent one now is nigh on impossible. You'd have to pay 5-6k for a decent one and have servicing costs higher than your alfa to keep it that way. They're a specialist car now - most owners that have a good one are keeping them off the road.

Sure you could pick up a cheap one, but could you really stomach (as my friend has just had to) paying half the price of the car just to get it through an MOT?

Are those Cappuccinos fast? Don't know a great deal about them. Enlighten me
tehre not lightning fast, but they are rear wheel drive, and can be tuned up pretty nice.

Having walked away from a cappo crash, you'd be amazed at just how well built the little things are.

Officially 0-60 is 9.5 secs. We timed mine at 7.5; Officially limited to 87mph (speed limiter), mine was clocked at Cadwell park at 125 mph down the back stretch (were the speedo was showing P miles per hour!)

And thats before you tweak them.....

    63BHP as standard, 90BHP easily obtainable. Before my mate Dave was tragically killed in a Bike accident, his cappo was putting out 135bhp;

Errrrm, cappo's are group 13 insurance.

It's just a thought so far. I've always wanted one and I think now might be the chance.

True I might not have had such a lucky escape in one. But I'm pretty keen to get out there and make the most of life now, and owning a RWD 2 seater is on my list.

I also noted the fact that even the newest ones are almost 10years old

Man... just look at that beautiful car! Look how shiny it STILL is... it's still wanting to drive with you Shad... it really does.

I'm absolutely gutted for you buddy, you put so much effort into that car, to maintain it and drive it the way Alfa's are designed to be driven - in style.

If I was you, I'd go for something "sensible" for a year, grab 1 years NCB, and then go for something a bit more exotic.

Once again, so so sorry to see the car in that way.... you will love again!

That's a write off... yours can probably be jigged and set to rights. Although saying that doesn't take anything away from the sadness of losing something you own and have worked hard for, or the fact that it scares the arse off you when you crash...

Sad tidings indeed, but you're still here, have learnt what it's like to have an accident and joined the rest of us rueing damaged automobiles.

Now you say you want a rear driving two-seater. Well I badly want to enter the Autocar Sideways competition and having thought about it today have the ULTIMATE cheapo solution :

    Bedford Rascal

Other than that all rear-driving small cars with cheap insurance that I can think of are so old by now they safely-free zones. (Talbot Sunbeam & Escort MK2 for instance)

    Disclaimer
Any suggestions of tin vehicles as accident replacements are entirely coincidental and should be ignored as serious advice.

Including me shad, my accident was about 11 months ago, i thought exactly the same thing, however my insurance this year even with a BIG accident, involving my car going on its side, my insurance is only £100 more expensive than last year, with fk all no claims bonus now.

So don't necessarily think that you need to get something smaller. I considered the same thing at the time, but i love my car and the repair job on mine was A1 and i don't even know i crashed it now.

If you love your car then make sure you get yourself another 147 if this one is written off, but knowing how bad my car was damaged, and it was a pretty mess like yours, i'd say unless you've got major structural damage it could be repaired.

But if anything it did me a lot of good, learning that cars can kill, and must be respected at all times..

I'm just glad you are okay and no-one else was hurt or involved.

Thanks guys, really appreciate your comments.

Hopefully today I will find out when they are going to send someone to look at the car.
