    That sucks mate, really does.

I will warn you though, I really do hope they write it off, it would have to be a ripple in the roof or the actual passenger compartment, but I do hope they write it off for many reasons.

One, selling on one of them when the HPI check is done and it comes back looking like a christmas tree will really hurt what you will get.

Two, its gonna take WEEKS to repair, my sister hit her 147 into a car park pillar (pillock!) and they have to get the bonnet from Italy itself plus a whole load of other parts, to be honest the accident was very similar to the front end damage you got on yours and it took 4 weeks to fix my sisters.

My biggest concern for yours is under the bonnet, I see the bonnet has ridden up, heres hoping its not the bonnet latches that have given way to allow that to happen and the engine bay itself as thats proper pricey and you could be looking at a write off.

Oh and Alfa paint it bloomin expensive!

Wishing ya luck today matie, just be grateful you got out unscathed, for an Alfa they actually stay in one piece quite well

It was only a car chap, your ok thats the main thing...

Not sure why you'd want to go from an Alfa to a cup of coffee tho, not even the same kinda class cars tbh

Indeed.... one is a good looking, fantastic handling car; the other, is an Alfa.

I guess it's because I've always wanted a Westfield/Caterham and the Cappo is the nearest to that concept that I can realistically manage. Since I got the Alfa, I missed the rawness of the Clio. When I drove my mate's CRX, I realised just how much power steering ruins the experience.

I want a raw driving machine to have fun with

In hind sight....not that car at all

I'm sorry to hear about your accident (glad you're OK though) and the damage done to your car, and I know people are just gonna moan at me, but I'll post this anyway...

I know aquaplaning is virtually impossible to control, but slowing down for a corner in rain may have saved your car mate, and you can't really deny that.

yes it may have, but we learn from mistakes, and i doubt you have a highway code in your car, so your driving aint always perfect im guessing

Indeed, if I'd have gone around 20mph slower it wouldn't have been a problem. If I'd have drifted to lane 2 as I always do, it wouldn't have been a problem. If, if, if... not worth thinking about now really.

It is worth thinking about. You were going too fast (for the conditions if not the road), and wrecked your car, and could have injured yourself and others. Pretty much everyone has an accident at some point - I wrote off my Mum's car two weeks after passing my test and hospitalised two mates - but the trick is to think about it, learn from it, and not to do it again!

Very nice of you to ask

I called my insurer on today (been on holiday since a week ago, only got back last night) and it transpires that they have lost the V5 that I sent to them (included with lots of other documentation). They're saying that this clearly is their fault and assure me "it will turn up eventually" but in the meantime, they give me their word that the vehicle will be scrapped and as soon as the engineer has worked out a value, they will cut me a cheque.

So hopefully by next weekend when I goto pick up the CRX, I'll be able to offer him more than a cash good will gesture and a rubber cheque
