    Argh! @ Renault

As many of you know - my day to day car is a Megane 1.9dCI - just because I do so many miles.

Anyway - the car I got 2nd hand v.good deal -from Renault and Go - or whatever they call it - 12k of miles on the clock and way below list.

This weekend I went shopping Saturday morning - get back to the car put the stuff in the car and drive out of the car park - anyway I hear this noise like there is a can of coke dangling from the back of my motor - argh!

So, I pull over and a weld has failed on my exhaust and the entire thing is hanging off.

I call the AA and they come out - sort me out a hire car which is about 60 miles drive away so they gave me a lift

I then drove this hire car back to the garage that they put my megane in to - and got my stuff, went home got home at 8pm (this all happened at about 2pm).

Anyway this hire car now has 400 miles extra on the clock after dropping some one to north wales and heading back.

Had a major nightmare this morning getting renault in Swindon to do anything - since they had the car.

They finally checked it and decided it was a weld fail and since the car was 1 year and 3 days old - they would not cover it under their 3 year warranty.

I applied a little pressure and it is now sorted (apart from 2 hours waiting around).

Then they wsay that they can not fix it until next wednesday! again a little pressure and it is now being done tmrw.

So at 4pm today I drop back my hire car, pick up another, which I have until tmrw when I get my car back.

    *sigh*.

And it is back in on Saturday for its 18k of miles service.

All in all - I am not buying one again.

Oh well.... Seems like I'm onto something slightly better with Renault Solihull.

Exhaust was making funny noise, sounding like it was blowing.
So I called em up, expecting to be told "nah, can't look at it til ...." but he actually says "sure, bring it in, we'll take a look and order the parts"

So I took it in, straight up on ramp where it is found that the catalytic convertor is cracked.

So it's booked in on thursday morning to have a new one fitted.

    So far so good.

I really think it's down to the dealer as to the service you get.
Also, if you ring Renault CS and complain, they usually compensate with vouchers that can be used towards paying for the service

David's exhaust was like a "pole vaulting pole" and if he'd driven it and it had snagged the ground, his car would be airborn

    funny but scary

My car's been in to the Renault garage in Tunbridge Wells a few times for warranty work, and I haven't had any problems. However, in general, Renault do seem to have a bad rep when it come to customer service unfortunately.

That sounds really scary! A pole vaulting Megane! That could cause some serious damage!

Same car David... And unfortunately, same CS from AKS Yeovil (Name and shame ).

It seems with Ren-oh-no, you have to badger them to admit you have a problem. Which is shocking service, having paid circa £16k for a car

And FFS pray your headlight doesn't blow. I tried to change bulb for 30 mins... In rage drove it to dealer, where it took 3 technicians 45 minutes. I left very quickly after, because if they'd have even dared charging me fitting, I'd have torched the car on the forecourt.

Has to be said once we worked out who was paying for it - their service was gr8 - they ran me over to the hire car place, I dropped off my old hire car, and got the new one. When I went to get my car they let me leave the hire car with them - they also cleaned my car quickly for me.
