Ok, I'm second in line to look over a mint S13 this Sat morning. Fingers crossed!
There is always the option of buying an Ultra cheap clio (Or other car) to use whilst you gut your one and make it perfick.
*Edit: Just seen the SX. Looks rather tasty.

Lowe, I'm really sorry to hear about the Clio. Even back as a lowly lurker it was great seeing something unique floating about. However, I'm with others and vote going for a complete change. Even though value is a totally relative term (my old money pit 5 series is a prime example) converting another Clio wouldn't really be the same, or hold the same cult status of your currentl one. Go RWD, you know you want it!!!
RWD is proving expensive... Insurance costs are pushing that 200 out my reach.

hunt around - try Flux ( see if they give a discount for SXOC membership , could be 15 well spent )
I pay about 800 fully comp with all mods declared on mine

This thread amuses me on the point of you must have car X,Y or Z. And this is purely on a personal note, I can understand people making their own choices on cars and choosing a forum once they have it. But the actual process of making a choice of what car you are going to go for was something much more individual for me.
Budget, Availability, servicing, drive, power, image all come into it. I'm certainly not a sheep and made my own choice on my car, and yes it is a Skoda and i'm damn happy with it. I'm wondering if Lowe would better spending his time trying a few other cars to compare them against his Clio and seeing what he likes.
That way he can make a much more objective choice and decide whether a s13 takes his fancy. I have to admit that I feel RWD isn't suited to everyone, everyone's driving style is different and thats just a fact of life imo.

See I'm getting quotes of around 750-1000 without mods which is just a smidge too much. If it were about 600-700 I could stretch to it. I just don't think it's worth that much when the Clio is about £460 and similar performance
Lowe how old are ya and how many years NCB?
You have to shop around as the likes of flux (I dont like them) will give you a crap quote first off just incase you say yes! By all acounts the S14 is more costly to insure than the S13, Im 24 with 2 years NCB and i am paying £860 fully comp with mods with admiral. They offered me £730 odd without mods. Yours should be less than that for an S13 esp as its worth a bit less. Assuming your the same age/NCB as me of course.
Persevere for a few days, try admiral They didnt even bat an eyelid when ni mentiones mods which i was very surpised at being under 25 they usually prod you from a distance with a large stick whilst laughing.

Tried Elephant? I just had a look at what they'd quote me for a 200SX with 25% more power than stock, fully comp in SE London, 25yo with 6 years NCB and no points: £850. Would be a bit cheaper for you I would have thought Lowe?
I must say though that I voted for getting another shell and doing a transplant. I hope that someone else will take on your car if you do decide to get a new one- I'd make you an offer myself if it weren't for the fact that I have a) no money and b) no mechanical skill.
Rich :¬)
I would imagine that Lowe would try a car before he buys it TiG.
If you do a bit of a search , you'll see that an S13 has been on his shopping list for quite some time

I'm 26, 5 years no claims, never had a bump, been driving since I was 17. 3 points for an SP30.
Most quotes are about £850-1,000. Admiral wanted about £779 with mods. Just seems a bit daft that I can have the Clio insured for £460, but I guess it's not worth "as much".
