    Re: New Suzuki Jimny :-)

So, I've just been for my test drive in the Jimny. It didn't go quite as smoothly as I'd hoped.

I turned up at the dealership at 10:45 for my test drive at 11:00, only for the salesperson to turn around and say "I'm afraid we're not Suzuki anymore, we got bought yesterday."
Arnold Clark had taken them over after buying all of the Phoenix garages around here.

So, I travelled a few miles to another Suzuki dealership and had a look round both an SZ4 and an SZ5 then I took the SZ5 for a test drive.

Unfortunately it didn't involve any kind of off-roading, but the steering is light, the controls are well placed, the kit is good and the visibility is excellent. The cabin is cramped though. I really wish he'd have let me take it out on my own so I could've got a better feel for it that way.

I'm fully interested in getting one, but only in the lime green, and they're not making too many of those so I could be waiting a long time.

you see this is where Suzuki and Jimny in particular score well.

If you give people too much choice, you cant hold stock of it.
If you give people too much choice, they take longer to decide
If you give people too much choice, they sometimes get buyers remorse and mess about changing things

But.. if you give someone a tool and it works, then what colour it is, becomes irrelevent.

its SO different to a quick sports coupe from a German brand
    not for the obivous reasons...

but because those German brand buyers demand choice, even if it's a multitude of moaning about delayed delivery.

but when you're axle deep in snow, somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland, 100 miles from a hospital, in a blizzard, with an injured friend... suddenly.. the 2 coat pearlescent purple with aubergine drilled leather trim is meaningless.

Nice dashboard! My uncle is a fan of Jimny, pretty sure he will like it when he saw it. I will be visiting him soon and help him install the headache rack, torza top tonneau cover and railings for his Ram when he arrived from an offshore trip. He's previous Jimny was pretty loaded and always fun to take outdoors, too bad it was totalled when a drunk guy hit it while parked.

Mindless waffle from two thoroughly nice chaps; Jonny Smith (Fifth Gear/Fully Charged) and Richard Porter (Sniff Petrol / Grand Tour/ex-Top Gear scriptwriter) in Jonny's own Jimny.
