What unrealrocks said.
Automatic?
ROFL
Car is nice, but as said....whats wrong with gears?
Autos take some of the fun away.
I dont know much about cars, but the brake house is terrible for the engine isnt it? the new astra over here is a 2 litre turbo and is 230 something bhp lol
and you can get that in manual man would i like one of those ( no hairdresser jokes please ;( )
Damn you yankees getting cheap cars/petrol/insurance etc
Nice car though, espically at 20
ok, Yes I'm 20!!! And I paid $7,000. It retailed for 24,000 It gets 24 MPG highway, Its a Automatic, I dont want the hasel of stick... The engine has high lowend torq so its fun to drive. The interor IS very nice!!! Leather all around And kias suck! My parents own a Kia and they hate it! My Z28 was under my parents name and it didnt last long at all. The tranie went... This is my first real car!
Found a corner to let it wallow round yet
Guys, engines in the USA have to go through one hell of a lot more than they do over here. For a start warrantees are about 10 years long / 100,000 miles! Also State side you have far more severe weather conditions to deal with - much higher/lower than the weather we get here. Then, there's the plain distances involved. Just nipping to the next town could see you driving 100 miles or more.
Could you imagine any of the highly tuned cars over here really standing up to that sort of punishment and lasting well over 100k? I think not!
This is why they have huge V8s pushing relatively low bhp - to make them reliable...
also fuel is so damn cheap over there that having a car that only puts out 25mpg rather than 40 isnt really an issue. besides, 160hp from 2.5l (64bhp/litre) is about average for engines these days - its not a high state of tune but its on track with most non-turbo cars over here (and i said most, not all, for whoever is going to throw a civic type r in my diretion)..
anyways, 230bhp from 2litres is nothing compared to the 407bhp/2 litres that the evo 8 fq400 does at stock

That dash is pretty funky!
I don't actually find the car that nice, in fact, quite average, it is not visually appealing, and judging by the BHP and traditional american handling, it is nothing special.
The price was good though, only about £4000. But over here, that can get you could get-
1997 BMW 3 SERIES 318i SE 4dr [SA] Saloon, Petrol, 80,000 miles, . BMW 318 I SE R registration (SEPTEMBER 1997) This is a two owner car, the first owner was a lady and the second it is me finished in Metallic Black with Black interior, 80.000 . . . .
that's the chicken!!!
[exit] siggy too biggy?
1997 bimmer is 8 years old though - starting to get to the age where you're likely to have problems..

I would be happy with a wallowy V6 at 20 tbh, since at 18 I currently drive a wallowy 3 cylinder supermini
Athlon 64 3800+, 6800GT, 2GB GSkill RAM, 120GB + 320GB HDDs, Logitech Z-680 5.1 etc
Looks very smart! Enjoy!
No they don't, they fully rebuild the engines from the block out like they did with the rs's, if all they did was turn up the boost it would be even worse for servicing intervals.Originally Posted by Butuz
