I had 17 lessons with BSM, thats 17 single lessons (as BSM normally double up). Passed Theory in one go, then the practical in one shot. Got the last test of the day, examiner wanted to go home, was only out about 20mins. He said, yeah ur fine. Pass. Sweet.

I don't remember how many i had, probably 25 is close enough.
I think there's a 3 month waiting list here, so that's not a bad idea.... I'm in no rush but i don't want to wait too long for a test date when i'm ready to pass

TBH i'm more worried about the show me tell me section of the test than the actual driving

I was talking to our local examiner ( used to serve him beer in the pub i used to work in ) and he was telling me that late afternoon is the best time to take your test because if you pass the examiner can go straight home.. whereas if he fails you there's loads of paperwork to do.......

In all I think it was around 12 lessons (along with a bit of driving with friends & step dad).
Took my 1st test after 4 lessons, failed for 'not being confident enough' which was a shame as the night before I had been out err rallying around the local country lanes
Took the second after 8 lessons, failed on some silly little things
Took the third after 11/12 lessons - passed, was so happy I couldnt sign the paper for a good 30 secs or so

blah at reversing round corners.... over here we have to reverse up a back lane at 90 degrees to the road for 10 metres, making sure we're right in the middle. From left AND right

its stupid that they test you on reversing round a corner, but not parking in a tight spot (say in a supermarket) which is used far more. i've not reversed around a corner since my bloomin test (around 40,000 miles ago)

IM not sure how many, prolly about 40.
    - My isnterutor was slow, but did a good job. (80% of his students pass within two goes)

As for the threoy, dont both with the highway code, just get the combined CD (the one with questions, and hazard percetion) and spend 2/3hours on it and your'll be sorted!
    - Its common sence, thb. (oh, and the bit about 30mph with street lights)

    - Have fun!

I find the theory test question book better than the CDrom ( i have both ) i can go through the 894 questions and get about 50 wrong, i also have the hazard perception CD rom can get a 74% score on that... i could probably pass the theory if i took it but i don't want to scrape through on the minimum mark... it's something i'll only get the chance to do once ( hopefully ) and might as well do it right

My instructor is excellent, very strict, and when you get closer to your test she makes you drive to test standard at each lesson.

Also real world parallel parking. I mean it is more often you will try and squeeze into a space that is just over car length, not 3 busses long! I hate parking.

I think I did it in around 30-35 hours or something. Maybe more, I'm not sure. I passed first time with five minors.

Yeah reversing into a corner is pointless IMO, when I turn around I'll either use someone's driveway, a 3 point turn (which again will be quicker than the ones they teach you!) or a U-turn using a sideroad.

My instructor said that the reverse around the corner is something i'll probably only ever do on my test and then the instructor might not want to see it, he might decide on a 3 point turn ( better because i can do those )

It's like handsignals, she gave me a 15 lecture on handsignals once, i asked her if they come up in the test... she said no, not anymore

I loved my driving lessons. I leaned with my mates Dad, who's always had nice cars. At the time, I learned in an white Astra GSi. 150bhp XE lump was just right for tootling around.

Of course, I had a couple of motorway lessons after, and he let me hit the wrong side of 6,000 rpm in 5th on the M54
