I had between 40-50 lessons. I think 30 is about average.

I had about 18 proper lessons with my instructor, but my dad took me out a lot too, so it was probably at least 30 hours or so in total.

I have my test in a couple of weeks and I'll have had 20 hours. But I've done alot of practise with parents. IMO, lessons are needed at the beggining to ensure you don't learn bad habits, but then its just practise which I can do outside of lessons.

Something like 8 lessons plus 1 more before the 2nd test (damn those red lights).

Was driving a lot before I took them, so the lessons where to tidy everything up.

And don't worry, with you being down south and me being "oop north there's little chance of meeting me on the roads

Think I had about 5 hours before my first test (which I then failed) and another couple before my second (which I passed).

I actually learned how to drive a car when I was 12 though (in my grandad's field) and I had a moped when I was 16, so on my 17th birthday I hopped in the car and drove us all to school. I drove around for another six months with my mum before I had any lessons; they were just to practice stuff like reversing round corners (which I was atrocious at, and still am), and reverse parking (which I'm O.K. at).

You'll want to be doing lessons all the way up to the test. So check when you can book your test for. You don't want to do 30 lessons and get really ready for it only to find out that you have to wait a month for your test and therefore take another 10 lessons to keep everything on the level. I don't remember how many i had, probably 25 is close enough.
