    All diesels are rubbish. They sound like a bag of spanners, throw out plumes of soot everywhere, are slow, generally more expensive to buy and even the diesel is more expensive than petrol per litre (92p v 88p at my local garage).

    The only vague exceptions are the engines in the BMW 330d, Honda Accord (current version) and the VW V10 diesel engine in the Phateon.
