Littering happens, and I'd like to see people who do it get fined. Vandals who start fights should get what they deserve.
No, because that'd be starting an altercation...

    Exactly.

If I saw you dumping litter in the street I'd do the proper thing and take a description of your car and report you. I wouldn't go looking to start a fight.

That may be the 'right thing', but it's not the right thing to do, because nothing would ever come of your complaint to the Police, they're too busy.

The litterer would never receive any feedback on their action, and would not consider it wrong to do it again. Telling them to their face that they're doing wrong might, just might have an effect (although probably not, as people who litter most likely don't care and won't even after they've been told off).

I suppose based on that same logic if its alright to shove litter in someones car if they dropped it, if you see someone breaking the speed limit its OK to ram them off the road as they would just get away with it and have no feedback on their actions
The point is some jumped up cyclist full of richeous indignation went and damaged someones property. What she could have done is knocked him on the window and asked him to pick it up, and then cal the police if he didn't comply. Police inaction is no excuse to take the law into your own hands.
If you condone the Cyclists actions, you condone vigilantiism.
That said, thats certainly no excuse to beat up the cyclist. The driver was acting like a thug and should have been heavily punished for it. What he could have done is restrained the cyclist and called the Police himself.
Or more fittingly picked up the litter from his car and rubbed it in the cyclists face.

And what should the cyclist's comeback be for this assault?

He shouldnt of littered and she shouldnt of thrown it back in his car, for him to then stamp on her bike and drag her about he was well out of order, two wrongs dont make a right but look at his face while he's trying to beat the crap out of her, if the bystanders hadnt of gotten involved she would of gotten a damn good kicking from that chap and theres no denying that.

I am a car driver btw, no axe to grind here except I am tired of watching neanderthals like him throw litter out of their cars.

Girl deserves a medal. People like him are just scum in my eyes, it has NOTHING to do with bikes and cars. I hope he chokes on his next burger.

Yeah.. THat site confused me. But from the previous posts in this thread I think I got the gist.. And that driver is a pillock. The cyclist didn't really deserve to be assaulted!

Driver - what a complete and utter loon. Needs to be locked up.
    Cyclist - I'm 100% behind her.
TeePee - have you been smoking drugs whist you've been replying to this thread?

No, but if I had, would you grab them from my hand and stub them out against the front of my computer case melting the plastic? Or do the proper thing and report me?

and if they did this would you lash out and beat them with your computer chair, walk off, then chase after them and smack them a few more times while they're down, ...or do the proper thing and report them? Assuming you're a largeish bloke and "they" are a petite woman and that they make no physical advance against your person?
