Not a bad suggestion, although they never made a 4wd version only a 4 wheel steering version. A mate of mine had the 2.2 VTEC in Phatom Grey. It looked nice as well as going like stink, great sounding car when wound up. The newer version represents real good value for money, as it wasnt a great success with the original Prelude fans due to the looks.

No Sensei, i'm not kicking the mats to waste time, they have parted and I don't want to injure myself!

Hmmm, £11k is pushing it for the Boxster but I'm not suprised they are heading that way - 'lesser' Porsches always have, it's the 911 that retains value.

Old model Ibiza Cupra could be had for that sort of money and an old model leon 'sport' (all intents a cupra) albeit with old-style bodykit also possible. A good late-last model Leon Cupra will cost a deal more tho (you're right there) but i think the Occy is doable...

    How about an Accord Type-R?

~2000 models are within your price range on autotrader, 7s to 60 and a big boot! (group 16/17 insurance though...)

911 at 10k equals serious trouble (people have tried it and failed) possible - remember repair bills can run well into four figures... Autotrader lists only the 2.5 boxster (nationally) for below 11k (high milers) and buying one makes you not only a 'poor mans 911' owner, but 'too tight for the 3.2S' Only driven the 3.2S (almost bought one till the missus started whinging about practicality - it really has none) and I did enjoy it

Yup 11k was for the 97 2.5 non S version. The boxster is pretty practical actually.... if you compare it to a motorbike

Dad drives a Boxster (mainly because he wanted a mid engined car - nice and stable and the cayman hadn't been released) and has a Honda SuperBlackbird in the garage for his weekend blasts & tours of France. Both bought new, both will hold their value well - the Boxster more so than the bike, however. Funnily enough Mum doesn't mind the impracticality of the car, infact she nicked it today So Dad got to drive the volvo

Nothing against honda - their motorbikes are brilliant

EDIT - Back on topic - I'm sure which ever you choose out of the suggestions in this thread, as long as you buy a good one, I doubt you will do badly....

Wow, well there are a whole heap of suggestions there! Not been around to post back so sorry if it looked like a lack of input/enthusiasm. However over the weekend I looked at a couple of 328 sports (E36) however the manual one sold before I could get my mitts on it. Was thinking of a BMW as servicing and parts would be dirt cheap for me as I used to work for a main dealer (L&C Tunbridge Wells now Cooper if anyone knows it).

Ocatvia was on my list but they are hard to come by around here with sensible miles at that price However I think I have found the car I am going to get - an M reg Mercedes C36. £5000 with 63,000 on the clock, electric everything, digital climate and full Merc history Hopefully will have it by Saturday, will post some photos in a bit if anyone is interested?

Once again thanks for all the input, loads of cars there I would never have thought of!

I know the place, I work in Tunbridge Wells, and L&C is only up the road.

I don't know much about mercs in general, but in AMG guise, they do look very very tasty! So pics will be good. There's a blue M reg AMG parked up don't the road from my house actually, but I'm not sure which model it is. I will have a look next time I drive past. Does look good though.

A vRS would have been a good buy if you could've found one, but I am biased.

    Look forward to the pics!
