it's a '97 P it would seem... with four times the mileage it'd still be worth £2.5k

Just have to watch low milers on occasion. Mine was an utter pain due to grandad ownership. There's quite a few bits that have suffered a genuine lack of use.

Really is quite something to hold that value. At the end of the day, you could describe it as a 10 year old, diesel family car. Guess it is them rings.

Old school non-common-rail surely? I like diesels, but I wouldn'y pay £3k for old tech like that?

The new one's aren't common rail either. They have a high pressure pump for each injector on the 4 pots IIRC.

Yup like Konan said, the new ones aren't common rail - they're PD - Pump Deuse - and have a high pressure pump for each injector

Yes and no. They no longer use PD for some reason and use plain old common rail now. I suspect ist a cost thing

Yea Yea, its a close english approximation (or I can't spell...)

I think they abandoned PD technology because Common Rail diesels have become much more refined/easier to produce more powerful engines in

Plenty would pay over £4k! Look on the 'trader... It's the same engine as was used in VAG TDis until 2002, so it can't be that bad - 55mpg, 110 bhp, 200K+ mileage potential suits me fine... and it's a Audi

and as has been said, it's common rail (which seems to be back in fashion after the PD fad)
