    Bro's 620W Killed My Mobo

    Hey,

My bro's pc was first built and it failed to pass POST. After an hour of checking the PC over I managed to get it to boot fine. Things were good for a week when the same thing happened. Failed to pass POST.

Put my mobo + cpu which had no faults previously into his pc and vice versa. Only difference between the 2 pc's was I have a 750W corsair and he had a 620W more than adeqate for his system.

Everything was fine and his PC failed to POST again, this time it was with my Mobo and not his. It has been like this now for a week and even afeter swapping Mobos back. Putting in a new 750W Corsair PSU and no joy at all. Dead Mobo.

Would it be advisable to send the 620W PSU to yourselves for testing as I am sure that this has to have been killed by the PSU as this was the only difference in Spec. Everything was running at stock.

    Ta

it would be cheaper to do it to your retailer mate, corsairs RMA service is based in the netherlands so it would cost around £20 to ship it to them...

how long have you had the PSU?

If you think the PSU is at fault, go ahead and RMA it.

Re: Bro's 620W Killed My Mobo

    Cheers everyone.

The PSU is about 20 days old and doesnt really seem to act any differently from a working power supply but I could only think that it has to be what has tried to kill one working mobo and completely kill the other.

having said that I am not 20 - 30 quid confident that it will be diagnosed as faulty by ebuyer.

it wont cost you £20 to ship it to ebuyer... and you may be able to get ebuyer to arrange a collection

it would cost you ~£20 if you shipped it straight to corsair. and because you're within the 28day period (i think thats what ebuyer use) you should be able to return it for a full refund, repair or replacement as the fault was evidently inherent at the time purchase.
