Black 360 snapped on production line

Had a quick look and I don't think this has been posted yet so here you go...

Exiting news and pretty much a firm confirmation going by the pics. MS from what I have been reading are also going to make a major announcement tomorrow about "something". We can only wonder what it might be.

No built in wifi and no HD DVD drive

120gig HD isnt that big (pointless to us in the UK at the moment anyway)

Im not too bothered about a HDMI port im not a fan of the black casing really.

Cant help but think that MS are missing a trick if they dont release one with a HD DVD drive in.

I think the HD-DVD drive would at least bump the price up £100 and wifi is a shame

mind it could provide more PS3 competition if you dont watch films on it....but then again id like to see hd-dvd games

HDMI is nice. should be ever so slightly better than a VGA connection.
120gb is pretty pointless, but no wifi is a nono. I mean its such a small price to pay nowadays, that its a mystery why its not included.

I suppose they could have had media versions with HD-DVD srives instead, but I wouldn't want that to be the norm. it'll be far too expensive.

That would be a good compromise imo. Like the jap DVD playing Panasonic GC.

Why? DVDs are plenty big enough. They'll never make HD-DVD games even if this elite console came with a HD-DVD drive in there, since 90% of the market hasn't got a HD-DVD drive for their 360.

The PS3 isn't looking like good competition anyway with it's lackluster sales, if they made the elite 360 with a built in HD-DVD, it would probably share the same fate as the PS3, because of it's high price it wouldn't sell, since many people don't really care about HD video as they don't have a HDTV.

Exactly, and it would put the 360 in the same price bracket as the PS3. If the average consumer sees a 360 next to a PS3 on the shelf costing a similar amount which do they go for? I'd argue they would go for the bigger brand and that by far is playstation.

If Sony removed the blueray drive and stuck a larger HD in the cheaper version it would probably sell more. But no they want to use the PS3 as a trojan horse to force blueray and stealth inject the market with their format. Piggy banking blueray on the PS3 also allows them to market it easier and more cheaply.

Putting HD-DVD in the 360 would be counter productive on MSs part. They do not want to be in the same price range as the PS3. After reading todays news the strangest omission to me is the 65nm CPU.

If it had it the 360 would run a bit cooler, there for could be quieter and it might help ease the failure problems (i have heard the 3 ring of death thing is metal contacts melting or degrading in the heat). It would also be cheaper for MS to produce, which could be passed on to us, thus further distancing the PS3 on price.

yeah, the heat problem of the 360 should have been their number 1 priority. closely followed by the ridiculous noise the thing makes.
