xbox 360 graphic problem!

i think my xbox has finaly had it since i purchased it last may! The problem started in the weekend when i could not get any picture signal from the xbox at all! all i get was sound!

I tried conencting it to my monitor and my hdtv using the MS vga cable. yesterday i bought a new vga cable has i thought it was the cable and still the same.

i then disconnected everything and connected it back up and their was a picture! BUT..... the picture was shown in some yellowish contrast and what seems to be graphics tearing!

i had this console for over a year now so does that mean i have to pay for it to get it repaired? what are my options?

The year thing is largely a myth. There is no such provision under the sales of goods act, only that they must last a "reasonable" about of time.

Just over a year for a £280 is unlikely to be seen as "reasonable" by any court.

Who did you buy it from?

I would personally phone up microsoft and explain the situation, if it is one of the consoles from the launch batch then they might possibly just arrange to replace it.

One of my mates had a console which was 14 month old that got the 3 red lights, he phone MS and first was told they would repair it for £85.00 - he said he would let them know, phoned up two days later and he was offered a repair/replacement free so its possible down to what mood there cs reps are in

umm well i have unplugged the pwer brick off the socket and later when i come back i will see if it made any difference. i normaly leave the power brick on, on standby with the orange light on. if its still the same i will contact MS and see if they can sort it out without me paying for the damm thing

quick update: i phones the MS people last night and they was happy to repair the console for free!

I got a graphic problem too when mine broke. Only it froze and looked like this:
