Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

I am considering either titles for my PS3. I have been a die hard FIFA fan, but playing PES 6 on the PS2 the other night I quite enjoyed it! I guess I'll have to wait for the PES demo on the PS3. The FIFA demo didn't inspire me much, but after reading some other posts people said the actual game is a lot better.

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

I'm a PES guy, or should I say, was... I played the PES2008 demo on the xbox 360 and wasn't inspired by it. Even though they've rebuilt the engine from scratch for PES8 I thought it was the same ol' PES. I guess the AI is slightly better but to be honest, I generally play 2 player anyway, so AI doesn't mean that much to me.
I bought FIFA08 for PS3 this weekend thinking if I didn't like it I'd take it back and get PES next month, but I was surprised. The graphics are much nicer, going to PES is like playing cartoon footy. I'd even go so far as to say Im prefering it to PES (although I've only played the demo on xbox360) The online modes are great, you can play in leagues, and mimic the real fixtures, or just playing unranked games, its all simple and flawless. I literally turn on the game, select online unranked match and there's someone picking their team from somewhere on the net, and whilst playing I've not had any framerate or slowdown issues. There is also the "be a pro" mode which is very different and worth a try. You pick one player on the team and you are always that player, its nice and very different to traditional footy games.

As I said previously, I've always been a diehard PES gamer, but I think I'm defecting...

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

im with muppet here, i was always a pro evo player, but the minimal changes over the years made me have a look to fifa 08 and i am really impressed. I must have had about 30 games now and i am just starting to get to grips with the level of depth possible. It seems like you can play some really slick football when you get to grips with it.

i was a firm fifa hater before this year since 1996 but they deserve the credit where it is due. The reviews that complain its hard to score havent got to grips with how the game is played yet as its really not that hard

the best new feature is the ability to upload your goals to the net as well so you can keep all your best ones in a location where other people can see them too

PES for me, never really liked the way fifa plays, at times it seemed scripted to me, (older versions of fifa)

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

i am a die hard pes fan and after taking a huge risk in buying fifa 08 i can safely say that we have a new king for football games unless the pes demo is changed dramaticly!

the pace of fifa is JUST perfect. almost the same pace has the real football we see on t.v yet on pes its too fast and it seems more aracdy then fifa!

im shocked! words cant describe how good fifa is.

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

Seems awfully like people were voting for PES before it'd been released

Anyone's opinions changed now they've played it, and found out about the slowdown ?

Never have I hoped for a patch more...

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

I usually would have said PES

However after buying both PES 2008 and also FIFA 08 for the 360 I would say FIFA was better.

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

PES is a miles better game. But FIFA ain't bad this year, and with all the problems PES is having on the ps3 i recommend you give FIFA a go.

Re: Pro Evo 2008 or Fifa 2008

I'd love to know if all those who voted have played both games on PS3, or if they're just going on personal preference for "series".

PS3 PES 08 is pretty poor, and that's without even trying online.

I resorted to 360 PES and PS3 Fifa.
