Xbox 360 wireless performance

Anyone have their Xbox 360 wireless?

I'm thinking of doing it, but the adaptor seems a bit expensive.

I was wondering about how it performs in online multiplayer matches.

As usual with wireless it would depend on how far the router is from the 360 and other factors such as if the signal has to go through walls etc etc.

I use my 360 wired however my wife's dad has his wireless - 360 in the front room and the router upstairs in the study. In normal circumstances for the majority of games the connection is fine it does seem to lag now and then on COD4 however.

well pings are obv slower than a hardwired connection, but it copes very well overall, it just depends on your building layout and how far from the router you are and what obtsicles are in the way.

i got fed up with my wireless connection being laggy (although it was through a wireless bridge on a PC...) and ended up buying a 25m ethernet cable and snaking it round the house, and now i think that is the best way to go cos for 1 it's alot cheaper
and 2, it gives you better pings (which is handy on games like halo3 that are notoriously bad for slow pings, as in you rocket their face... you die cos they've dissapeared and reappeared behind you)

We have 2 360's in the house, 1 in my room upstairs and 1 in the living room downstairs. The 1 downstairs is connected using the wireless adaptor, it's directly under the router upstairs so that might help.

Don't play halo 3 any more but as far as COD4 goes I can't say I've noticed any more lag while playing on the wireless box than on the wired one. Streams video fine as well with no problems.

Yes, they do work well. I had my Xbox 360 upstairs with the router downstairs and i was getting 4 bars(max).

Online In-game action was fine, They may cause a problem when trying to stream Video though.

Had my 360 on wireless for about a year now. TBH not noticed any difference in speed. Stability is 100% so im happy!

not had any problems with the official 1 I used to use a belkin bridge but the official 1 is neater (no power adapter, cat5 cable) and easier to configure if I need to change wpa key etc

I use a squeezebox 3 wireless edition configured as a wireless access point and then the LAN cable connected from this to the xbox in order to connect my xbox 360 to the router upstairs.

Lag was never an issue with the games unless xbox live was going a bit funny.

My mate uses his laptop and bridges the connections, a cheaper alternative to the official adapater if you already have the hardware required.

I use the wireless adaptor on my 360, it connects to a netgear DG834 downstairs in my computer room and I have to say I have not noticed any issues at all. Its like using a wired connection as far as I am concerned and frankly I have been surprised at just how reliable it is (and so it should be for £60!).

I used the MS wireless adapter through a Linksys A+B+G router connected to a wired D-link Router (the linksys router didn't have a BT connection).

Considering the connection was running through 2 routers, it didn't feel any worse than a wired connection through 1 router. I'd still be using it except the Linksys died after a thunderstorm. Linksys replaced it but I couldn't get it to work right

I've just been given a new wireless router, so I'll prob set that up soon.

double that reccomendation, if ethernet cable is too untidy, basic homeplug would do the job for about £45 for 2 adapters.

After wrestiling with wifi unrerleiability for years (though eventually ending up with stable system) Honmeplug was an absolute breeze.

I was using a wired connection for a couple of months but the wires were getting on my nerves. Since switching I havent noticed a difference between the two. However my xbox 360 is directly one floor above my router.

I've now gone wireless and can't see any difference in the performance. I should hope not considering it cost nearly £60.
