    god dammit!!!

yup, another red ring thread, died about 20 mins ago it does come back on when its cooled down but soon crashes again im not pleased, i think i may of set some record though the date on the back of my console says 09/06 so its lasted more than two years.

ms support reckon about 3 weeks, is this about right? what sorta repair times did you guys face? anything i should know? is it likely to do it again once its been repaired, im quite tempted to go out and buy a new one tomorrow not that i can afford to but i wanna get back online i may acturally have to show my gf some interest now which im not best pleased about!!

It took me aboot 10 days when I sent my 'box is for repair, so it'll probably be similar for you. I've got to say microsoft handled it very well.

    Re: god dammit!!!

My xbox has broken down twice, the first time it took about 3 weeks to return and the second about 2 weeks after I had to ring up ups.

The towel technique worked on my second one for about six weeks then it broke and never came back.

    Re: god dammit!!!

I have a second hand xbox that was bought at launch (the guy I bought it from waited hours in a queue for it when it came out ). I think I'm very lucky, I've never seen any red lights on my console.

Hope you get it back quickly!

Just to warn you when they told me that it was ready to be shipped it still took them a good couple of days before they actually sent it.

    Re: god dammit!!!

I've never had an Xbox red ring on me but I've had 3 repaired, they all started making a horrible grinding noise - disconcerning as the 3 year extended warranty only covers the dreaded red ring of death.

All 3 got back to me in under 15 days, also got given 1 month of free Xbox live with each repair, pretty nifty

On another note, Microsoft has messed up some of my purchased games from the marketplace and I can't get them back, at all

I had that problem with the COD 4 variety pack, ended up having to buy it all over again.

    Re: god dammit!!!

i thought there was a bit on the xbox site where you can change which console the download was linked to because some downloads are done by gamertag and console serial and when you get yours replaced obviously the serial has changed

I tried that but it didn't work for the Map Pack.
