Re: TEmpted by a 360 but have a few questions

My last 360 purchased was an HDMI equipped Jasper Arcade.
I was a completely dedicated PC gamer myself up untill I bit the bullet and bought my Xbox,
Haven't really looked back and have since bought 2 more consoles for system link play with friends.

While I do still use my PC for the odd title that belongs on a PC such as RTS and some FPS's the Xbox has totally taken over as my "gaming rig".

As for storage, I'm still using a 20gb drive and have around 75 retail games and 15 or so arcade titles..
Yeah I'm pushed for space but 60gb would be ample (retail games are around 5-8gb or so)
Arcade titles barely anything over 500mb.. most around 40mb or so.

Winning factor for me was the simplicity..
Turn it on, press of a button and see what your mates are up to
another couple of presses and you're talking live with a bunch of friends
one more and you're all running about with pistols trying to repel the oncomnig nazi zombie invasion.

No patch hunting, no glitch fixing, pure and simple.

Yes it has the HDMI port all of them do now....

Only the Elite comes with the Optical breakout so you can split off the sound like I said, otherwise it's £35 or so or hacking apart the current adapter.

Get the Elite and Gow 1/2 - still by far the best two games for the 360. Been playing Street Fighter 4 and am liking it a lot; very different to Tekken and done really well on the 360....can't wait to multiplayer with a cousin in a few days...

I never really got into GOW1, but GOW2 is phenomenal (in every way; the achievements, the multiplayer, and the singleplayer) and it's become possibly my alltime favourite 360 game.

Oh definitely. If you've played Gow2 it's hard to get back into Gow1 considering the mechanics aren't as polished (obviously). Hoard is the most fun and I'm sure you'll be hearing this from mostly everyone you comes across; I've only been able to play with a mate and two of us have just managed to reach lvl 20+

Would be amazing to play with 4-5 mates though...

Re: TEmpted by a 360 but have a few questions

Well I have been mostly playing fable2 atm Already have 2 wives. i`m trying to be a good guy as much as possible though
My copy of fifa has a huge gouge around the disc. Took it back to a different store but they have no other copies available and told me that the slightest knock could have caused the Scratch(it was a pre-owned copy and the bloke didnt seem to check before giving it to me. The console is on a hifi shelf which is designed to stop any knocking etc)

I picked up streetfighter 4 whilst I was in game as well and it seems pretty fun.

Played a bit of ninja gaiden 2 and whilst it does look pretty the game play is limited and seems to be mostly a button masher.

Havent signed up for XBLOX live gold yet Although I have a couple of trials I`ll use first.

Re: TEmpted by a 360 but have a few questions

Tbh you don't even need the 120gb HD. I bought myself the Premium with the 60GB HD and I have several games stored on there so it doesn't spin up the DVD's and then there are around 20 live arcade games and I am only using around 30GB of the drive, CoD4 = 7.1GB install, GTA IV = 7.2GB, Afro Samurai and Left 4 Dead take up another 10gb or so. Plenty of space on them and it saves the money buying the arcade and the 120GB HD

I am the same as Zap though, got the xbox as the PC had nowt coming out for it for a long time that I was interested in ad I have never looked back. The PC gets used for the likes of indie games and the odd MMO and RTS here and there

Games I would suggest on the 360 would be GoW2 as the online play is great but like any game you get a lot of nobs online who will kick you if you are new player. CoD4 online is great on the 360 and the games work well, better if you are playing online with a handful of friends on party chat. Other than that hit the live arcade as there are plenty of good games in there to. Left 4 Dead online is always busy so you can waste hours on that shooting zombies in the face.

Aw thats a massive shame! Fifa 09 is a great game, and gets the most multiplayer love in my house (in terms of 2 player etc, rather than over Live. Xbox Live is so immense, definately one of the best selling points of the whole Xbox mechanism as a whole I think. You can get it for cheap via the mass sellers on Ebay, they email you a code asap once you buy the product rather than sending you a DVD case with the code inside lol.

When you do, add my gamertag as when I'm online with my 360 I spend most nights playing FIFA 09.

I've just done the "purist" achievement and just need to get a few more sorted.

Re: TEmpted by a 360 but have a few questions

I played the demo of test drive unlimited and was a bit underwhelmed. It looked very pretty an all but wasnt really up to much.

GOt Burnout paradise which I`ll give a go of soon.

    Is forza great then?

Well I am not the best to comment on it but it is regarded as one of the best racers on the xbox. I have seen it and played it at friends just not opened my copy xD From what I can make out of forza, the depth to it is massive. Sort of like the GTR days when you could tweak everything by .1 of a degree A petrol heads dream tbh If you like your racing games Race Pro from Simbin on the xbox. Now I haven't played this either but I will be grabbing it this weekend. If the other Simbin games are anything to go by, like WTCC Race, GTR and GTR2 this game should be a classic in it's own right

Re: TEmpted by a 360 but have a few questions

Yeah - I picked one up a few months back... for SFIV (Which I havent actually played much) and also Fable 2, as I loved the first game... I've managed to play through it and also the first DLC, and just got the second. Ashamed to say that I even bothered to just play try and get all the achievements, and am nearly there. Hope you perservere with it, as its an awesome game. Personally, although the game is short (DLC included) there are loads of things to do after completing the main quest if you want. DLC is good for me as anything that prolongs the game is a good thing IMO...

I know games like this have been out for ages, but I hadnt really given the Guitar hero/Rock band games much thought as I hadnt a system to play it on, but rented it from Blockbuster recently for about £6 for a week, for the game and 2 guitars and liked it so much, I've now bought it second hand from the bay. A lot of people have been burned out by rhythm games, but if you havent been exposed to them, its worth a shot.

Gamertag in sig - feel free to add... Oh and one thing - if anyone wants to buy in a shop, and if they let you, look at the little hole on the side of the box, where you can see serial. Just above it is a set of power ratings. If you tilt the box, then you can see the amp rating. If it states 12.1a then its a Jasper. Just handy to check without opening the actaul box, which some retailers dont let you do.

Also - the optical breakout can be had for £5 at ComputerExchange - bargain for those who need it.

    Have fun...
