    Different types of Xbox360...?

Now, I know the original 360's suffered from the old red ring of death thing, however, my Elite did the same thing, 3 red flashing lights, went thru the thing on the website and wasnt expecting much as it said my 360 was outside of its normal warranty, hardly supprising its a smidge over two years old.
However a bit more digging on the MS support site and it appears they have a 3 year warranty when its a three red light problem..
I have a code and I'm gonna box the unit up and get it picked up and sorted..

Question is how many variants of the 360 are there, I though the Elite was meant to be on a die shrink or something as far as the cooling was concerned and that was meant to remove this problem...

Doesn't work like that. An elite built in 2006 for example uses the same hardware thats in the arcade/pro at the time just with a black case and a bigger HD. The RROD can effect all xbox's right up until the latest Jasper unit's (October 2008 onwards I think).

The Arcade/Pro/Elite are all the same hardware bar the arcade having no HDMI. All the other differences are colour of casing and the size of the HD on it. Not heard any reports of Jasper based units having RROD issues as yet so only time will tell if MS have worked out the issue.

If you pick an Xbox 360 up now it will most defiantly be a Jasper one, maybe even one that has the 512MB of flash storage :O
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Ahh, I thought all Elites were the newer ones, infact I remember checking the barcode on it and that led me to believe it was one of the later ones, that was xmas 08 though...

Easy way to tell is look at the power pack. If its using 150w its a jasper if its anything else it's one of the older boards in the xbox
