I've been reading on the internet about a leap year bug in the full size PS3 that appears to prevent then going on line.

I've not turned mine on today so I can't check.
It's a bit worrying that this type of bug still creeps in despire that whole Y2K fuss....

Yeah I turned mine on today and it was 1999 again!
I'm not playing anything until a firmware update is released. I have lots of trophies that haven't synchronised because I'm at uni with no internet for my PS3!

At least the RRoD doesn't discriminate against different versions. On the other hand, when have Sony not had software issues bricking consoles and now the network for some users ?

From what I understand, you can switch it on but try and play any games, online or offline, and you get an error message and error code. I'm not too sure if you even lose your trophies too.
Sony have officially said don't turn it on until there's a fix. You can't play any games that have trophy support - games without are fine but in addition to trophy supported games your DLC will be borked if you have any.

Cheers for the heads up Mark, luckily not had a chance to get on ps3 since early last week so will wait for update before doing so. No way i would want to risk my fatty!!
