quite a lot of bits and bobs, but the relevant stuff is:

    USB sound card
    hdmi switch
    2x hdmi cables
    3.5mm Y splitter
    4 port mini hub.

    plan is to go:

Graphics Card - HDMI cable - HDMI switch - HDMI cable - Monitor - 3.5mm cable - Headphones for PC audio
PCI Sound card - 3.5mm cable - 3.5mm Y spitter - Headphones, for PC Mic

    PS3 HDMI - HDMI cable - HDMI switch - HDMI cable - Monitor - 3.5mm cable - Headphones for PS3 audio
    USB Sound card - 3.5mm cable - 3.5mm Y spitter - Headphones, for PS3 Mic

then it is as simple as a flick of the HDMI switch to change between PC and PS3.

A lot hangs on the USB Sound thingy being compatible, but i don't think i have ever seen anyone say the one they tried isn't, so we shall see.

i would go for the monitor myself - dismantled my HTPC a while ago to use the bits for other things and since getting a Fetch TV HD box i haven't been tempted to build another in the slightest.

you did well madduck. think you came 3rd or something?

We will use A spec cars in the future. stock cars for me are getting boring but not many people have leveled up that high yet.

We will gradually move into more exciting cars. i mean theirs 1000 to choose from for christ sakes

    Re: GT5 stuff

4th, was third and catching 2nd quickly until penultimate lap, then the GF decided she should start moving around and i totally cocked up the last corner

how is a-spec cars going to work? bhp limit on its own is no good as it becomes a race to find the lightest car

    Re: GT5 stuff

better, but not totally - because then everyone will just be using a 4WD.. two cars, same power, same weight, ones a 4WD... that's the winner.

need some kind of gentlemans agreement in the choosing i think, but that would be trial and error to figure out and need a lot of trust.

yeah drivetrains. FF vs FR is not as clear cut, but generally speaking at low HP they are quite similar, but the more power the further ahead FR will get.

drivetrain restriction is no good, that just cuts loads of cars out, it needs some formula for different drivetrains so it affects the power/weight limits in different ways - like max of 500hp 1400kg if its a 4WD, 500hp 1200kg if its a FR.. just as an example... you could do it yourself but as i say, lot of effort.

edit: no, its not even that easy - you would need data for the cars drag coefficient, tyre widths, break power and efficiency, weight distribution, downforce... and probably more i have missed jeeesus

    edit2: center of gravity height
