What's your kid in the hospital for? If you don't mind me asking? I get jittery hearing about other parents with kids in hospital....almost keeps me awake at night worrying about what could happen to my two...

Bobster ... Oh, that's not nice. I never want to see any kid spitting up blood, never mind my own. I assume that it's treatable, and long term prognosis is okay. That must have scared the pants off you. Did you have any warning, or was there suddenly just blood?

we re-shot our wedding day on Sat, she was ok when @ Rachels mums house, but when she got to the church he went very sleepy, so we tucked her up in a blanket gave her some calpol (thanks to the bottomless handbag of nonna) and she had a doze while we reshot..
then at the reception she picked up and was running around with balloons, but she was off her food, didn't eat alot and by 9pm she was knackered, we noticed she was running a high temp and calpol seemed to be having no effect.. she was due to go back with Rachels mum and we were going to have a kids free night @ the hotel, but because she wasn't doing to well we decided to keep her with us..
2am and she's not well at all, so i called NHS direct who put us onto a local doctor who suggests child nurofen to help bring the temp down, but we only have calpol, so he suggests going to the 24hr garage and getting adult nurofen, crushing up a tablet and trying to get her to take it.. we get a couple of grains into her mouth, which she promptly spits out.. she goes to sleep on mum, morning arrives and she's much happier, even managed to get her to have the crushed up nurofen with her dosage of calpol, she eats a sausage and some toast for breakfast along with some fresh orange juice.. she's very lively
lunchtime @ rachels mums house, she goes very lethargic, so we leave her on the sofa in the lounge while we have lunch, after lunch i check on her and notice she has blood around her mouth and on her clothes.. Rachels mum says she's prolly bitten her lip while sneezing, but we can't see any sign of a bleeding lip.. not happy about the situation i call D Doc @ hospital and they say to come in..
while i'm putting her in the car seat Maisy gags up some blood into my hand (ok this isn't good!) i wipe her up with some tissue and we make haste to the hospital..
we wait about 30 mins to see a doctor (much quicker than waiting in A+E - 4hr wait) we tell the lady on reception that Maisy has gagged up some blood and she relays this to the doctor.. the doctor sees Maisy and checks her chest etc (not her throat at this time) and says she has a chest infection on the left side.. we were erm.. what about the blood? She was oh, i'll take a look at her mouth, and while putting the stick into Maisys mouth made her gag again and some more blood comes up.. she then says i'll get you sent up to the childrens ward
so we get taken up to the childrens ward and wait to be seen by a pediatrician, in which time maisy coughs up alot of blood, some new some old (into my hand again!) the nurse mops it all up and gives us a paper bowl to use incase there's another.. 5 mins later loads come up and then all of a sudden the pediatrician turns up as if by mirricle.. Maisy has a canular inserted and they take bloods..
at this time they're not saying what it is that is causing it so naturally we're thinking the worst (all those films/TV shows where the patient has blood coming out of their mouth = death)
takes 4 hours and 4-5 visits by different doctors for them to tell us what it is! (prolly the longest 4hours of our lives!!) they start her on Anti Biotics and give her fluids
Monday - Wednesday morning she didn't eat or drink a thing.. she picked up yesterday afternoon and had some drink and food and more drink through the afternoon/evening
hopefully shes coming home tomorrow morning and we'll be going back to see a doc about having her tonsils out..
