what FULL HD 46" for 800-1000?

basically i want a decent brand 46" FULL HD tv... for around 800-1000....
at the moment i'm not sure anything can beat the toshiba 46XV555DB as that looks the nuts...
24fps/gaming mode/lots of inputs and outputs/decent colour engine/1080p yada yada yada...
but i'm not sure if theres anything that can beat it at its price of 860quid or if its worth going for something £1000? will anything beat it for its price to quality ratio? or am i better off pocketing my 200quid and getting what i'm already looking at?

any links please to reviews on my tv or other tv suggestions with UK links and prices please?

i can hold out till the 23rd if theres anything soon to come out but either way i want it by then....

Plasma burn in isn't the big deal many think it is. Yeah it probably was 10 years ago, but they have come a long way since then.

Why would you need to sit any firther away with a plasma than you would a similarly speced LCD? granted it is 50" vs the 46" you asked about, but is that really going to make much of a difference to viewing distances? no probably not. Both are would be about 12ft minimum.

Looks like a new telly is on the cards sooner than I thought

If it does come back in stock.

I don't know if it will, but :-

    - it's in their "clearance" section
    - it's designated "special purchase"
    - they don't have any

The second of those makes me doubt if more will come in .... but who knows, they could. It might be worth asking them.

and yer my mates have plasma's and even ppl in the shops also say u have to sit further away burn in should not happen at all.its like putting up with a gfx card that gives you artifacts just plain ridiculous.you pay money for it to work not to "make do" and "put up with it" its crazy

I've got the 42inch version of the above which I bought in June 07, its was a superb tv when I bought it and still is very good. The only qualm is that on sd you will have to do a bit of fiddling with the picture settings to get the image just right. On HD its fine, 1080p looks gorgeous.

It is a slightly old model so I don't know how it pits up against the new lcd's, but £922 for a 52inch is very tempting.

Have a look on the Sharp website as there are several 46" LCD TVs in the £650 mark with 5 year guarantee. They come with all the whizz bang stuff you're after. I bought one (the 46X20E I think it was) and am very happy with it.
