Hello,
Does anyone know what the maximum CF capacity that a 300D can accept is?
I have read that the 350D can't format anything larger than 8GB but wondered if it's the same for the 300D?

These web-pages should be helpful:

Looks like 8Gb really then.
Thanks for the links.

4GB cards would be my preference. Or whatever is the pest value per GB.
there are 2 schools of thought on cards
some say more cards that way incase a card fails etc (but then you have the ability to lose cards when they're not in the camera)
then theres the other, 1 big card, always in the camera (never miss a moment), but then you can lose everything by having a card failure or dropping the camera etc (i have to say i've always been able to recover files from a bad card)
its really up to you, if your a prolific shooter then you may need more cards, or if you're more conservative with your shooting then 1 single 8GB card will meet your needs..
because you're on a 300D and it doesn't really matter how fast the card is, take a look at Sandisk Ultra II > bargain! http://www.bargainmemorycards.co.uk/...sh-memory-card £28.38

The OP should have at least one or two sets of extra batteries too as the cold won't help things at all(and it would be prudent to keep them warm).
I found that the battery grip really helps to sturdy up the 300D, and it really makes a difference to shooting time too
I went with 2GB cards when I had the 300D, but now as bob said just buy the 8GB ones as they're so cheap these days

If the batteries are old I would get a pair of new ones. You don't want miss a shot especially since I assume this is going to be an expensive trip that you won't be doing frequently!
TBH, I would not want to rely on one big card only as if the card does have an issue in the middle of a trip you won't be able to use the camera at all. At least have a 2GB or 4GB card spare if you do decide to go for one bigger card.
Also being Nepal I wouldn't think that it would be easy to get spare cards and the propriety batteries the 300D uses outside of the cities and perhaps the larger towns and no doubt they probably would not be that cheap either.

Have one new battery, and an old one, and have just ordered myself a replacement.
Got my 50mm F1.8 today too, unfortunately the weather is horrible here so havent been able to test it out satisfactorily yet.
Might just get an 8GB card as I have another 2GB divided between 3 other cards...
It's a shame the 300D takes different batteries to the 350D, I have a bunch of them and you can get after market ones really cheaply.
