Gale Gold, Wharfdale 9.1s, Acoustic Energy Evo 1s... there's quite a few to suggest

I'll take them, provisionally.
First of all, are they ok to go with my NAD 310?
Second, are they ok to go in my living room? I will post a picture up soon to give you an idea of the size but it's a high ceiling'ed place. We often have people round before/after nights out so they'd need to be alright for that.
Third, can you post a picture? Curious to see what they look like.
Thanks
Cool, I have piccies, gimme a few minutes and they'll be in my for sale thread :

G8ina: Think I will pass them on to Biscuit - they'd actually be nice for my room but I suspect they might be too small. Thanks for the consideration though.
Biscuit : would those Tannoy Mercury F1 speakers be alright with a NAD 310 ?
With 2x20w you'd want speakers with a reasonable sensitivity. The Tannoys Biscuit mentioned are 86db, so quite sensitive - should be a fairly good match.
If you want cheaper, then Wharfdale Diamond 9s are under £40 new from Richer Sounds - they'd be a good pairing. Otherwise Gale Aria or 3010s or going up to something like the Cambridge Audio SL20s (circa £80).
Have a wander into a RicherSounds if you've got one near you - you'll be able to see the different speakers, and possibly hear them if the local one is obliging

Are the Diamonds 9's actually worthwhile? I.e., better than your AIO 2.0/1 speaker kits?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Diamond 9s are pretty good yeah. I went to richer sounds with intention of buying them when i got my Tannoys... but i was tempted by and caved into getting the Tannoys when i was listening to all the different speakers.
Saying this i haven't heard the V1s, im only assuming they are very similar to the F1 customs i have.
At £40 the Wharfdales are a steal
Whilst I'm here...
I'm probably going to pick up one of these Fiio D3 to sit between my PC and my amp, running optical cable.
Any other suggestions for that sort of price range?
Yeah please. Il sort it all out with you tonight when im hope from work and can check which account actually has money in!
I would try it out with the standard outputs on your PC before you buy anything more, you may well find its good enough. Dont rush into anything... what made me laugh about that link:
Frequently Bought Together
Customers buy this item with 1.0m Optical TOSlink Cable - Professional Quality / 24k Gold Plated / Digital / Audio / Lead £2.80
gold plated optical cable... so you have no reliance on the metal to metal connection being good for a good signal, what you need is for the physical connection to be solid and stable... and you put one of the softest, rarest and most expensive metals on the it. So pointless!

to be fair, they're selling the cable for £2.80 so it can't be much gold they've put on it Utterly pointless though, as you state.
format: as Biscuit says, well worth trying it with the standard analogue outputs before spending more money on kit. A simple 3.5mm stereo to 2xRCA lead will only cost you a couple of quid (maybe a bit more if you go for a high quality one) and there's every chance it'll provide a more than acceptable output
