I still say give the KSC-75 a chance if you don't need the isolation (MX500 aren't isolating btw)

I just tried my older Sony ED31, haven't used them in about a year. I don't think i can go back now, theres such a lack of bass compared to the canalphones and i have to put it louder to hear it the same.
IMO, the main advantage of canal phones is that they you can play at lower volume, meaning that you are less likely to try "compensating" the outdoor sound by playing louder.
But sound wise, I actually prefer open phones. There's is just more "air" to me, and I feel the bass slam a lil more o.O
I was really expecting my UM2 to become something I'd permanently have in my ear, but it turns out not to be the case. And those are considered mid-high end canal phones (next step would be custom made IEMs).
headfi forum is always worth a look for headphones. In the end they are as important as speakers. A cheap pair will not let you hear everything your source is outputting so an Ipod for example can get great results from a headphone replacement.
I plumped for the ultimate ears Super.fi 5 pros after reading headfi. Got them this week but got sent black rather than white so will be putting these up for sale but can't on here as I've not posted much.
Only found this place last week when lookingfor components to build new pc.

Check out which musicians use them on stage: http://www.ultimateears.com/superfi/...e-artists.html
Lol, I got my Westone UM2 from hanging out on Head-Fi as well. I've been here much longer than at Head-Fi though. I did not recommend those because they just ain't in the same price range as the other one mentioned.
Westone have their followers too. But to be honest, I don't care which musicians uses what. And I imagine that those people probably splashed on the top end IEM with custom mold (U10 etc.).
