Often I can listen to music in studio 1 at uni ... ADAM farfield monitors, Yamaha 02R96 source from a Denon mastering CD writer

Normally I listen to music through my laptop into my firewire Mackie ONYX desk then into a Denon stereo amp and Wharfedale Evo10 speakers Either that or through my Beyer DT150 monitoring headphones.

    Depends where I am,

at home = P.C playing through my stereo system as loud as possible

out of the house = Ipod as loud as possible (until the battery inevitably dies)

on stage = through whatever half assed monitor system the venues put together combined with my ashdown mag300

Ive got an Xbox, modded running XBMC as the dashboard. It's hooked up to my PC via ethernet, and all my music has been mp3'd or flac'd and transferred over. I have a few music DVDs, so the 5.1 or DTS tracks from them have been stripped out and transferred over too.

I run the Xbox via a 3rd party HD VGA box to my 50" rear pro TV, my Cambrdige Audio power/pre-amp combo with 160watt studio monitor speakers, and via optical to my 5.1 rig, which is nicely spread around the room & properly positioned.

    Works well for me!

Ooh, I guess you must be a fellow Head-Fier?
I was very tempted by the SR-71, but decided to cut my expenses by going with the Hornet (still a lot of money TBH). But I still kinda wonder how the two differs sound wise.

Dude my ears are shot, years of going to gigs and standing right by the speakers at the front, 100's of hours of band practice's and gigs with no ear protectors, I have to have my stuff a little louder these days unfortunatly.

PC or Xbox 360 is the source for CD's/MP3s/DVD's Optical out from Audigy 2 EX Platinum/X360 into Yamaha DSP 757 Av Amplifier to Wharfedale diamond 8.4's

For music stereo is the only way to go, none of that upmixing shenadigans, unless of course its a SACD with multiple channels.

I did have the gigaworks previously which was not bad for what it is, but the balance between treble and bass wasnt great. i found the bass way too overpowering...and i like a bassline.

    When I'm at the PC I use Winamp > NF4 onboard > Logitech X-620's in 5.1

In bed, modded Xbox running XBMC streaming from the PC, and audio coming through a 5 speaker Sharp hi-fi.

Out and about - Creative Zen Touch 20GB

i have a terratec phase 28 sound card running into a 16 channel mackie mixing desk then to some tapco studio monitor speakers, it all sounds very nice indeed although still living with parents does get very irratating the constant cry of "turn that down" does get quite irratating!
