Sound Setup
Normal PC Usage
---------------------
Sound Audigy 2 XS 24-bit set at 5.1 surround 24-bit
5.1 Speedlink Medusa headset
Blast Music Time
--------------------
Sound blaster Audigy 2 24 bit set at 5.1 surround 24-bit
Line Out to a Sharp CD-PC651 100W RMS Pro Logic 2 Midi Hifi
Often I can listen to music in studio 1 at uni ... ADAM farfield monitors, Yamaha 02R96 source from a Denon mastering CD writer
Normally I listen to music through my laptop into my firewire Mackie ONYX desk then into a Denon stereo amp and Wharfedale Evo10 speakers Either that or through my Beyer DT150 monitoring headphones.
G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD
Rotel RC970BX | DBX DriveRack |2x Rotel RB850
B&W DM640i | Velodyne 1512
Depends where I am,
at home = P.C playing through my stereo system as loud as possible
out of the house = Ipod as loud as possible (until the battery inevitably dies)
on stage = through whatever half assed monitor system the venues put together combined with my ashdown mag300
Ive got an Xbox, modded running XBMC as the dashboard. It's hooked up to my PC via ethernet, and all my music has been mp3'd or flac'd and transferred over. I have a few music DVDs, so the 5.1 or DTS tracks from them have been stripped out and transferred over too.
I run the Xbox via a 3rd party HD VGA box to my 50" rear pro TV, my Cambrdige Audio power/pre-amp combo with 160watt studio monitor speakers, and via optical to my 5.1 rig, which is nicely spread around the room & properly positioned.
Works well for me!

Dude my ears are shot, years of going to gigs and standing right by the speakers at the front, 100's of hours of band practice's and gigs with no ear protectors, I have to have my stuff a little louder these days unfortunatly.
Please don't laugh!
At work: Winamp + Built in soundcard + Sennheiser PX100s
On the Go: Sony NH600 + Sony ED21LPs
In the Ka: bog standard radio or a tape adapter to my NH600
In the Study: Nforce2 Soundstorm + Logitech Z3s
In the Living Room: XBMC + Denon Mini hifi
A Ka! How could we not laugh? Itd better be your missusesOriginally Posted by Gunbuster

For music stereo is the only way to go, none of that upmixing shenadigans, unless of course its a SACD with multiple channels.
I did have the gigaworks previously which was not bad for what it is, but the balance between treble and bass wasnt great. i found the bass way too overpowering...and i like a bassline.
Oi! there's nothing wrong with insurance group 2! ;POriginally Posted by herulach
Side note: to order official Sennheiser PX100 replacement pads is £15! or £1.67 from Maplin generics.
Some rather nifty setups there folks.
Seems everyone has their own way of listening to music
keep them coming...
i have a terratec phase 28 sound card running into a 16 channel mackie mixing desk then to some tapco studio monitor speakers, it all sounds very nice indeed although still living with parents does get very irratating the constant cry of "turn that down" does get quite irratating!
Sorry I have to do this, its now 20 odd posts in and no one has made the joke xD
"How do you listen to your music"
WITH MY EARS xD
I'll get me coat......
And to answer the question I am like Knox, PC - HiFi as loud as I can pumping the sweet sweet sound of anything metal, iPod blasting when out, forget the sound check lark in the car is the cd player with the bog standard speakers for now.
Steam: (Grey_Mata) || Hexus Trust
On the PC:
Corda Aria headphone amplifier (USB DAC so no sound card) --> Sennheiser HD580 or Beyerdynamic DT 880.
If I want to use speakers, I have the M-audio Revolution 7.1 --> Videologic Sirocco Crossfire.
Main hi-fi:
Arcam CD72T CDP --> Pioneer 2011 receiver --> Parasound 1205A power amplifier --> JM Lab Electra 926 speakers / SVS PC Ultra sub woofer.
Both setups are very pleasing to the ear.
