TV Series - How do you keep track?

I really enjoy watching a couple of TV series, namely Sopranos, 24, The Shield, Smallville and Lost.

The trouble I have though is that I never know when they're starting. Lost Season 2 was ok, it was advertised really well so I was able to set Sky+ to record it using the series link from the first episode.

But with the rest of them, I never have a clue. How do you go about finding out when The Sopranos, The Shield etc will be airing again? If they haven't already.
I swear I've already missed a season of The Shield.

When I look on their sites, it shows info for the likes of HBO and other channels I don't have.

How does one keep track of all these TV series?

I just scan through the Sky Guide whenever it comes and check for any new series that I might be interested in. They always highlight the new stuff in there.

Generally, most prime-time series start in september, so keep an eye out in august and september for any information regarding the series kick-off.

Season 6 of scrubs however, has been announced mid-season on NBC, with 2 episodes showing each week back-to-back. Its starting around January and will run for about 3 months.

Not entirely what you want, but
    http://epguides.com/
is very useful if you know the name of the episode you have seen and want to know about what you have missed and future (US) broadcast dates.

Thanks for the links, I'm bookmarking them as they all seem very handy!

It turns out I've already missed the start of The Shield Series 5, four episodes have already been shown!
I'm setting Sky+ to record the rest, and I'm trying to download the first four.

Good to know I'm not the only one who finds it difficult!

www.tv.com may do it, i know they give the air date, but that may just be for the states. Some series like stargate are broadcast at the same time/day in the US and UK

You can use the planner on sky. Set it to series link and in most cases it works (green button once put on the planner). Currently have CSI Miami on Tuesday night set and it just goes back to the bottom of the list once it has been on.

I use digiguide as well, you tell it what you are interested in and can mark programs with a watch, record, remind and it will do just that. Can find all programs with a certain person it, key words or theme. You can get a free 30 day trial and see if you like it. It is 1000x easier than using sky epg even though its a good epg.

Another vote for www.tv.com. Lists all the shows, when they are first aired (in USA) and also has veiwer ratings for individual shows.

I used to use digiguide when I had a PC but now they don't do a mac version

Series link does everything for me at the moment on Sky. I spend 10 minutes flicking through the magazine they send you every month and then program my months viewing.

I generally check all the TV guides out when I'm bored at work (I work in a supermarket). Other than that I keep track by watching as much tv as I can!

Generally I search US series by the torrent sites, for downloading to the UK. Being new to US TV though, does anyone know why every series seems to have a few months break in the middle? Drives me crazy, and seems more than a little annoying and pointless. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason for it though.
