TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF is the fan optional? Compatible with Abit IP35 Pro XE?

    Hi!

I'm shopping for two new systems based on Abit IP35 Pro XE and E8400. One is going to be OC'ed some and will be used for gaming, the other will be a strict office PC. Both will be issues with 4GB RAM (2x2GB).

For the gaming rig I was thinking Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF 4096MB, DDR2, 2x2GB(KIT), DHX, E.P.P, with FAN as advertised performance looks good and the price is right. But I would definitely not use the included fan, a quiet system is my ultimate goal.

    (a) Will the modules run at advertised speeds without any problems without using the included fan? My CPU HSF will be the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme and a low-speed 120mm fan. It will be mounted in a P182 case. If these modules are running glowing hot, I fear they're not for me.

    (b) They are compatible with the Abit IP35 Pro XE, right?

    (c) What RAM would you recommend for the office rig that is compatible with the Abit IP35 Pro XE? It should be good solid and rock stable RAM of course (again for an Abit IP35 Pro XE mobo). If it's going to be OC'ed, it won't be OC'ed higher than 400 Mhz FSB, so I'm not sure getting anything better than PC6400 would make sense (maybe if timings are significantly improved by this).

    Thanks!

None knows if it works 100% to use the Dominators without the included fan? Unless someone helps me out on this, I'm gonna have to get the slightly more expensive but equivalent OCZ memories that don't require a fan: Komplett.se Ã…F - OCZ DDR2 PC8500 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x2048MB, Heatpipe, (CL5-5-5-18)

Do the Dominators run cool or hot?

They work just fine without the fan and work great with P35 chipsets.

Perfect, I am ordering within hours. If you had replied a bit later I would have bought OCZ memory.

Well, I have just returned from holiday so it was fortunate timing.
