    Arrow Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Hey guys, I ordered the above sticks earlier on this week after reading alot of good things about them. Got them through today and installed, no problems

One thing though, in CPU-Z, its show the sticks as running at 400 MHz... I thought these sticks ran at 1066? Do I have to go into the BIOS and manually set these settings?

Im a bit of a noob when it comes to the BIO's and playing around with it, I guess I expect everything to be right "out of the box"

Can someone give me the correct settings to use? I dont wanna turn my PC into an expensive paper-weight

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: My specs incase anyone needs them.

    Motherboard: Asus P5Kc (Latest BIOS)
    CPU: E6700 (Not O/C'd)

Keep in mind that CPU-Z reports the actual frequency, not the dual data rate. So, DDR800 = 400mhz. You will need to set the memory frequency manually in your BIOS.

Ok, ive done that and also changed the voltage to 2.1 and now CPU-z is showing 534.3/4 which should be about right

    Re: Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Hey, I'm having some problems im afraid.

When tinkering around tonight. I noticed the sticks were running in single channel mode.. I had put one in the wrong slot

So I changed it to the right one and fired the system up. It came up with a O/C Error and asked me to load the default settings.. which I did. Everything works fine, timings are 5-5-5-15 but im only running at 800MHz

So I go back into the BIOS to change it.. but anything above 877MHz and it wont boot up, giving me a O/C error.

Are there some special settings to use?

I'd just double check you are altering the correct bit in the bios as 877 sounds like an odd memory speed for a stock system..

    Re: Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Yea I am changing the right setting.. it just wont boot up in dual channel mode @ 1066. It just defaults back to 800MHz but 877MHz is the highest I can increase it to before it wont post.

Are you selecting a different memory divider or frequency in the BIOS or are you running the memory in synch with the CPU?

    Re: Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Its running at a frequency of 5:6 at 800MHz.

I dunno how to change the divider.

Look in the manual at your BIOS section for ADVANCED settings. In this section, you will find how to change the memory frequency. Each selection represents a divider or a ratio at which the CPU and the memory interact.

What is your current FSB frequency?

I tried increasing the divider to 8 but it still wouldnt work :/

    Re: Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

8 is your CPU multiplier and is not the correct setting for adjusting memory frequency. Please use your manual and find instructions on how to adjust your memory frequency. It's in chapter 4.4 under the ADVANCED menu on page 4-18 in the online version.

    http://support.asus.com/default.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

See DRAM FREQUENCY and select the option that is appropriate for your desired memory speed.

Ive got it to a stage where its booting up into windows with the 1066 frequency, but as soon as I try to do anything it either freezes or gives me the blue screen

OK, tell me what settings you have made in the BIOS now. List the settings you have made for RAM, CPU, and voltages.

    Re: Asus P5KC + TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

I'd suggest you contact ASUS technical support in this case. Some P5K-C MOBOs I have seen have difficulty running memory at speeds above DDR800. Also, make sure you have the most recent BIOS.

Also, you can use the settings you have shown in your pictures and test each module individually with Memtest for 3-5 passes each. For this test, make sure you disable Legacy USB Support as it conflicts with the test and can cause a false error indication.
