Interesting that they should mention AMD and Qualcomm. I wonder if Samsung have said that themselves, or if it's just extrapolation from a reporter somewhere along the way?
It would make sense that Samsung would get some more customers since Apple are multi-sourcing. However I would've thought AMD would prefer GloFo, at least for the time being, considering the WSA and supposedly very similar process to Samsung?
AFAIK,GF and Samsung have some alliance going on??
Yeah but I thought business-wise, AMD would prefer to go with GloFo to fulfil the WSA? Unless OFC they've found another way to fill it e.g. consoles?
Also, any idea yet when AMD may be free of the WSA?
Past 2020 IIRC. The previous management were either incompetent or worse IMHO. However, there were constant allegations Hector Ruiz was up to no good:

Wow, that long? I thought it was just for a few years until GloFo were able to sustain themselves as an independent fab!
Actually 2024 it seems. This is why the allegations regarding Hector Ruiz in those links are very interesting.
Edit!!

The FX8310 has appeared and it could be only £80:

Hope this is a socketed part.

I find the bit about it replacing Beema/Mullins a bit hard to believe; perhaps as an intermediate part like the Intel Core SoCs, but not a direct replacement because of die size/cost of nothing else i.e. the same reason Core M doesn't replace Atom.
However I wonder if it means Carizzo will do well at very low, perhaps <10W, TDPs?
This review is interesting:

The FX8350 does quite well!!
Seems the rumours about the new iMac using Radeon is true: http://wccftech.com/ipad-mini-3/
3.5 TFLOPS would also fit in with a '285X'...
anyone got anything concrete on the new ZEN cpu architecture?
