A warning to people looking for a new server host

There is a new startup that I have been involved in.

They gave us a couple of free servers to test and said we had them for a month. After two weeks these servers where taken from us and given to another clan. I wan't to upset as they where given to us for free anyway. What then happened was that the guy hacked our other server, put his company name on it and said in the server name that we had defaulted on payment!!

(I have been asked to remove the name of the company)

if you can prove with the logs that it is who you say it is then you could report it under the computer misuse act section 3. other than that send an abusive email comparing his mother to various farm animals and forget about it.

Re: A warning to people looking for a new server host

this is a bit of a pointless thread without the name of the company, so it should probably just get removed or it will fill with genius ideas like "send the boys round" or "knock on his door with a bat" etc etc.

I am interested on how you can default on "free servers" are you sure there was nothing more in the deal eg first 3 months free then £10 per month after that, or free while you display his company logo etc.

I'd be very concerned at home someone can "hack" your server so easily, and I'd be taking that up with the host of the other server, unless he is the owner/host of the "other" server in which case he's probably just taking actions due to the potential miss-understanding mentioned above.
    It is Inevitable.....
