I played it and didn't think it was anything special. A racing game has to be either Obscenely fun or Completely realistic, and it wasn't either.

Bingo, and obscenely fun it was.Originally Posted by Enverex

No, it wasn't. At least not for me or anyone I know. So that would be YOUR oppinion.
And the opinion of all the people who voted for it, making it the joint 2nd best game on the list.
Yes?
I hardly think me thinking that Super Mario Kart is a fun game and a classic is just my opinion. Read reviews of the game on the internet, you may find that just one or two others agree with me.
So its not just MY opinion.
But still, it isn't mine or anyone I know's
Well 4 of my 5 were in there well i think...cant remember as a bit of indecision
HL - best game ever? old, but still easily playable. hopefully HL2 will live up to it.
VC - just fantastic, enjoyed it so much. Cant be killing a load of people with Billie Jean on the radio Long life time as well, if you dont cheat.
C+C - hours of entertainment, sadly doesnt work with win2k
Zelda (*think? i voted for it) - just really good. need to find it on for my N64 as it would be good to have a bash.
Suprised more people didnt vote actually....

I agree a lot more with the IGN list than this one, though Starcraft at #7? not that i can really complain about this list, because it's not as though i took the time to vote, not that it would have effected things greatly. Ocarina of Time is by far the best game on the Hexus list, awesomely engrossing. I've always disliked Command and Conquer series, a poor substitute for the Warcraft series.
Publicly voted lists will always become a popularity contest though, and skewed toward the modern era.
Track and field at #49 at IGN makes me giggle as we've got a track n' field arcade machine at one of my locals, great for a mad button bashing finger workout!
hmm this whole forumn seems to contain plenty of il-2 fans... an i missing something, i just don't have the patience or joystick for flight sims
just noticed someone slating mario kart on snes... that person must be nuttier than frank bruno's 800g bag of cashews... it is a true classic and still plays well today especially in 2 player... the n64 and game cube versions are great but still not a patch on the origional.. and why did they remove the hop??? hopping into power slides was the coolest thing!!!!
I don't think there is any case at all for Super Mario not being a classic. I suppose some people just don't 'get it'.
Of course 99% of people do, and that's why we all know its a quality game, and deserving of its place on the Top 10, or in this case, 13.
lol that IGN review holds no water for me since Morrowind wasn't even in the top 100!!
