DeusEx2 was a victim of its own success and has nothing to do with the xbox, it was commented that the original was long and hard (ooh err mrs)
so it was to be dumbed down for mass market, nowt to do with xbox either.

Well no actually i DON'T want an xbox they're carp..

not only that, but why would want the very thing thats responsible for half-assed pc games being released most obviously deus ex 2, halo....complete tosh...

the xbox is in no way, shape or form responsible for anything.

the sad fact is: good games don't make money. they don't. deus ex, despite several hundred "game of the year" awards was pretty uneventful at the cash registers. despite some of the finest titles, nintendo systems are behind on sales compared to sony. what to people want? what to they buy? what sells? fifa, fifa, fifa.

there's no point spending more time making a better game, at higher cost, when no bugger's gonna buy it - and no publisher's gonna lower their profits to get better scores in reviews

take halo as an example. ignore the dodginess of the pc port, examine purely the game iteslf - what you get is a bunch of repetitive & dull levels. that's not by virtue of it being an xbox title, it's by virtue of it being a boring game. it could be for pc, xbox, or atari st, the format makes no difference to whether the game is any good, or whether it's worth the effort.

"dumbing down" of games is an attempt to sell more copies. if you want the perfect game, pay someone to develop it - you're the only one who'd buy it
