heh, just a recap, I remember when all the sites like amazon, play, kelkoo all stated "in the fall of 2003" for its release date. Then after that past no one knew. There was a rumour on doomworld that its release date was sometime at the end of february. Now its march, and the rumour is now April.

Hmm, seems to me like no one has any clue except ID. But I predict that we're gonna have to wait till summer.

I think you'll find the recently leaked 'beta' is infact the save version + engine as the earlyer leaked 'alpha' (which it wasn't) from E3 by ATi, with some extra test maps added

I heard HL2 was penciled in for November ... meh - I'll probably get it when its released, if it ever is.

That was the last date we were given, and contrary to whats been said in the thread it is actually very close to completion, they've even finished a hefty ammount of the Xbox version.

It could well be released in April but you can bet that ID wont give much away until a week before release.

Rubbish ID have never done it this way they always do public alphas and betas I spoke to TH - the CEO in September he said 'about a year' to me...

The Alpha was Leaked 2 Years ago and was never intended to be played
e.g the build was made for taking screenshots and a non interactive demonstration of the engine lighting.
There has been no other leaks since then, only fake Betas which are hacked versions of the alpha.

JC made his speech today at the GDC, he said the game was " really close" to shipping
Guess were gonna find out soon enough :-)

there was an alpha out like 8 or 9 months ago, not much on it but you could see they had done more than what was leaked, textures etc looked pretty impressive, and the alpha itself had hardly any bugs.
