Is xbox live really that limited in terms of network code? Most xbox games have low player count whilst the PS3 can handle a large number of player count lag free!

LOL the best online MP doesn't directly correlate to how many people per game can be handled! Higher game participants online would be nicer once in a while, but the high majority of people I know prefer XBL to PSN.

But regarding Forza, 8 cars is pretty poor... but they've always had the 8 car limit I guess. They must have their reasons, perhaps it is just a performance issue with Xbox 360 hardware.

I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan though, and although I wouldn't buy a PS3 just for that, my housemate has a PS3

I would reckon it is down to wanting to keep the game at full HD with no slowdown with 8 other players via IP, 12 is fine with some AI but any more then ping could affect the gameplay mechanics

Still, do you ever go online with 8 mates at once to play a game?

well refering to your last question, the post i have got my real life mates to join me in forza was 3 so it total only 4 of us and most if not all my friends have 360's.

The problem with 8 player races is that within a lap or two the cars spread out dramaticly and there is hardly an dual's or overtaken going on after that. People then tend to quit as they are more or less racing with themselves or people just piss about and wreck the race for everyone.

in gtr evo that doesnt happen, well hardly. you hardly get idiots ramming eachother in a public server and because there is lots of people racing, there is always overtaking and duals happening throughout the race and thats the best part of racing, the overtaking of eachother and not much overtaking is done on forza 2 because of the low player count especialy on the large track like silvestone or even that german track that takes nearly 10mins just to complete one lap.

This is a big dissapointment for me, i really couldnt give a damm about how good forza 3 may look, if the gameplay is not fun its a dissapointment and overtaking and having duals with other races both online and offline is what i am looking for a racing sim.

Last time i checked, this game was suppose to be aimed at racing sim fans. no wonder why some pc racing sim fans laugh at us forza/GT players.

i guess making it look better and making it easier for people to race(assisted breaks and rewind feature = wtf???) is Turn 10's number 1 priority with this game it seems.

i wouldnt mind if they delayed this game for anotehr year if they can increase the player count by optimising the engine. well thats one of the downfalls of a console game, the hardware is static and so games like these will always need something to cut back on.

    Re: forza 3

TBH I think their main credit is (I think) 3 Forza games in the time between GT4 and 5

can't blame them or mainstream targeting, true sim fans will get pc games, tbh I want to see proper wheel support for the console for the g25 etc but there arent any that work which sucks a bit aside from the official one, not that its a bad wheel but i would like choice

    Re: forza 3

To end rumors in the community, Turn 10 community manager Che Chou has now confirmed that Forza Motorsport 3 will not feature weather, night racing or rally cars. While the 8-car limit was something many gamers complained about, these missing features really put the new Forza title behind in their duel with Gran Turismo as GT5 has been confirmed to include all these features.
    ouch

This isn't Turn10's problem, this is a MS problem with how they set up LIVE. The 360 does have the power to have more people online, but MS decided that they didn't want to have central game servers so its down to the gamer with the best net connection to become the host. And then you don't know who the actual host is.

Sony have been very good with their online system, they have dedicated servers (some very good photos appeared showing the modified PS3's being used for Warhawk) and thus have the ability to have massive online games. With Mag's 256 player being the biggest.

With LIVE everyone always says how good it is, its a superior service compared to PSN easier to use etc. But we've all become sheep to the MS way of life, we pay £30-60 a year for what? Being able to play online. Thats it, nothing else. Among my friends i have been very verbal to what i think about LIVE, the amount of spoilt Halo 3 games i've been in is just a joke, and there isn't much more than MS can do about it.

As for Forza 3, i'll probably still get it, until GT5 comes out i'll still want a racer to play, and i can live without the effects and the number of cars on the grid.

i am a bit disappointed about 8 player and agree with beanbandits gripe about paying for xbox live.

I always swore i'd never pay for subscription gaming but have.

I will still buy this game though as it's probably gonna be Awesome.

Also I forgot that Forza had their whole series out between GT4 and GT5!

Apart from the 8 player limit it doesn't mean it's going to be a bad game. It's still shaping up to be a game I'm looking forward to

Tbh im not to bothered. 8 racers in fine i think especially when you get in your racing group with decent people, and i dont really see it as a limitng factor gameplay wise as GT5(P) is shocking online, and its additional 8 players hinder not help, i found.
Night races again im not to bothered about and as T10 had already mentioned previously before Forza 2, they'll leave the rallying for rally games and seen as the impressive looking Dirt 2 is coming out im ok with that also.

LOL your joking right? trackmania is NOT a racing sim. have you not tried gtr evo? rfactor? GRID is more of a sim then trackmania and GRID is a joke in terms of sim racing compared to rfactor etc.

Night races again im not to bothered about and as T10 had already mentioned previously before Forza 2, they'll leave the rallying for rally games and seen as the impressive looking Dirt 2 is coming out im ok with that also.
imo if Turn 10 did a rally game with forza-like physics, it would be better then DIRT

He didn't mean that it was a racing Sim. He was just giving an example of a racing game when he's played with large numbers of people.

lol Yeah! I didn't quite see the emphasis on the racing 'sim' rather than racing games in general.

I'm not a big fan of racing sims myself, but Gran Turismo is great fun. Usually I prefer something a little more arcady and chill.

I think this 8 player thing won't bother that many people, but undoubtedly it will bother some.
