But most of those games where dumbed down. I think you are really missing the point here. When you have a game cross platform on a pc, you sacrifice a lot of things a pc can do and a console cant.

Player count, mods, proper dedicated server(Quickly becoming a thing of the past) etc etc.

Oblivion and fallout 3 where great only because of the mods, mirrors edge is **** and not worth £££ for 2 hours of gameplay, Mass effect has low res textures and looks like a shoddy port graphicaly, BC2 has low ass player count, tiny maps, regen health FTW, only 4 classes and so on.

    i prefer bf2 too.

The reason why i care is because consoles cant even handle bf2 let alone bf2 remade in the frostbite engine.

I am 99.9% certain they wont up the player count to 64 and leave the console at 32 at most because not only is the player count different between the two platforms but the Maps and gamemodes will have to be drasticaly different between the two. You do that and both games are pretty much entrely different just like battlefield 2 for pc was compared to battlefield 2 modern combat and do you honetsly think dice would make two complete different games?

hell no so this is BAD news. ****ing terrible. Dont expect large scale battles, mod support and large player counts in BF3.

expect something closer to bad company 2. umm it actually wont surprise me if they renamed BF2 to BC3 In other words mate, you should care unless your happy to play BC3 which sounds like you are not and rather a BF2 type game.

edit: i personaly think cross platform games are not as good as exclusive games and that goes for console excluisves.

i prefer exclusive games like heavy rain, god of war, gears of war, uncharted, forza, alan wake, metal gear to cross platform games such mas MW, BC, GTA etc.

Exclusive games from a pc, or a 360/ps3 seems to always bring out the best on each system

And before people say how bc2 is not a console port:

You guys are either insane or not experienced PC gamers if you think BC2 doesn't feel like a port.

Don't get me wrong, I have 80 hours into it now and love it, but there are several major red flags that scream POORLY DONE PORT.

    1. The instant I moved my mouse in the game, I knew it wasn't right. Despite not having a menu option anywhere, I instantly knew there was some kind of weird mouse acceleration. Sure enough when I googled it, as an artifact from the console control scheme (where you need acceleration), BC2 includes acceleration which you cannot turn off without using a 3rd party editor or modifying multiple config files. Without fixing that, it's blatantly obvious to anyone who knows gaming that it's not a "PC" game. IT just doesn't aim correctly with a mouse.

    2. The change in aiming sensitivity when you hop into a turret or tank. Duh. Same crap as above, have to modify config files to fix.

    3. Hit registration. Need I say more? The netcode is horrible.

    4. Invisible walls, rocks which can't be jumped over, getting stuck in trees, getting stuck under docks, and how about this - NOT being able to shoot through leaves (bullets won't register and they "hit" the invisible space between the tree).

    5. No joystick support for choppers. This is EXPLICITLY because it's a console port. Even 1942 had joystick support. They actually took a step BACKWARDS from a TEN year old game because it's a console port.

BC2 is a fun game, but is immensely frustrating sometimes due to the fact it's a bad port with little to no support from EA and DICE (they had ONE developer patching it, and already announced that no further patches will ever be made).
In a nutshell, Battlefield 3 should be the same size as arma 2 ie massive, moddables and limtless. 3 things consoles struggle to do. Yea i know MAG has done it but had to sacrifice heavily for graphics AND ran in dedicated servers while MOST xbox games are not run dedicated hench why the likes of halo and gears of war are only 8/16 players online. MW2 on the ps3 has a higher player count from what i have seen listed in the boxes compared to the 360.

This statement is so wrong its embarrassing, not to mention GoW2 only support 10 players max. Any game I've played on Halo 3 has always been full, whether its big team battle or otherwise.

I'm also curious as to whether or not BF3 will be multi platform to the extent BFBC2 was. IIRC BF3 was brought up some time ago in an investors call which angered DICE.

how is it wrong? halo 3 only has 16 players online max in a game session while killzone 2 has 32. Name me a fps game from the 360 that has 32 players except frontline fuels of war.

Its a fact that there seems to be MORE ps3 games that have a higher player count on similar games than the 360's exclusive games. I read somewhere how having a xbox live dedicated server is very expensive hench why MANY 360 live games are p2p gaming. Good luck hosting a 32 player lag free via p2p. theirs a reason why halo 3 and likes only cater for 16 players max. because its done via p2p.

in a nutshell, can u see consoles supporting large scale maps, 64 players lag free?

Re: Battlefield 3 going multi plat

So it appears there was a misunderstanding. Your post read to me, at least, that servers on 360 gaes were only ever half-full : 8/16 players in a game.

Well, you've already answered your question as you know how many players MAG supports.

Re: Battlefield 3 going multi plat

BF3?! I'm still waiting for BF1943! I don't see a problem with BF3 being on consoles as well as PC; I mean, if I'm not going to be playing with foul mouthed kids on xbox live I have no reason to complain, I'll be on the ol' PC.

Re: Battlefield 3 going multi plat

since there's no solid details of what the game will be like i'll still keep a small glimmer of hope that they may spend more time beefing up the PC version to what the PC can handle although I doubt very much that'll be the case.

Re: Battlefield 3 going multi plat

PC is a fringe platform (both consoles combined sell about 5x as many games per year as PC), so going multi-platform is a sensible strategy considering the production costs of high-end games.

How many copies sold on the PC? I know the 360 alone pulled in around 5 million copies according to dice and according to the charts through Edge, The Guardian Games Section and GTK Chart Track the PC has around an 18% share of copies sold and the rest going to the consoles.

    "10 (12) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (16+) Xbox 360 (46) PS3 (36) PC (18)

Leisure software charts compiled by GfK Chart Track"

That's from the top ten sales as of 31st July 2010 from Gtk who do all the chart sales in the country.

    Xbox 360: 2.37 million

So it sold 13x better on console than on PC.
