Right well pretty much all of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-wRrue_yBQ
Also I remember one of the Micro Machine games where you could collect the cars? (and then possibly use them in other races?)
And another game where you were a little tiny car and you could use a nitrous boost every now and again...?
What a great topic. You guys have reminded me about so many great games.
Syndicate is one I would love to see back.
The X-wing/Tie Fighter one (what was the one on the Nintendo Gamecube? Rogue Squadron?)
Also just remembered Speedball - loved that game. It was great to beat your friends to a pulp on your way to scoring a goal.
Skies of Arcadia - I really loved that game.
I had quite a soft spot for Stunt GP
The Bitmap Brothers did remake it if for 2007/8 but didn't really catch on. I won a copy in one of their many give-aways and hardly touched it. Played stacks of Brutal Deluxe back in the day, taking my team through the leagues, this version however wasn't the game I remembered.
Steam have since removed it from their store and the official game site has long since disappeared. I don't see that series coming back any time soon.
Or Ghouls 'N Ghosts. No news of that since 2007 when it was said to be coming out for XBLA.
As much as I'd like to see a new SoR game, sadly I'm not sure Sega could pull it off.
Think I've found it...

I just thought I would add this:
Arcventure Egyptians- on PC but I played it on an Acorn
