But whats the pay off? What does one gain from this? I could see making a copy to play with outside of work but to distribute it... whats the point? More of a risk if you ask me!

pfft ok i'm being picky here, and we will probly have to agreet to disagree here, but in this case an ATI employee leaked it onto the internet, wasnt technically stolen, as such

but ok lets not discuss it just incase your rioght ;p

how can you agree to disagree with that coment

if i was to send you a copy of my BF1942 CD that is classed as a warez
coz im not deemed to the rights to copy the disc and distrubute it

an neither was that ATI employee

nope its different for final software, it would be breaking the ATI employees none disclosure agreement, but its NOT warez - at least in the conventional and generally accepted meaning of the word

Im sorry, but just what *are* you going on about ?

Redistributing software that has been leaked is illegal, no matter how the original party had received it (legal or not).
As for “conventional and generally accepted meaning of the word” – maybe you’d like to fill us in as to what you think “warez” is, because its certainly different to what I perceive it to be.
How does being the final build of the software, make it any less illegal and not "warez" ? Im quite shocked at that statement.

as i see it, warez is illegally distribuiting copyrighted works via any means. This includes software/films/mp3s/books...

now ok you could include alphas/betas in that catagory...but i wouldnt, i dont think its the same thing. As far as hexus is concerned if you want to class it as warez then thats fine, you guys make the rules =) but we gonna have to agree to disagree i think...

As all release groups say - If you like the game, buy it! Warez software has become popular becuase there is so much crap being released. Personally i'd rather check the soft before making an actual purchase.

    It is good, very good.

I have to say if I quote a post

I have never ever ever not liked a id Software game - I have played and completed them all. From Commander Keen, to Quake 1 right up to Quake 3 and also games based on their engine....

    I *love them.

I am an id fan boy - if you think thats wrong - deal with it.

It gives me a few weeks to get a decent PC.

    FX53 939, 2GB ram - couple of raptors.

I have to say - it rocks on 6800Ultra - better than ATi. NVIDIA are the OpenGL daddies... has to be said. This is defacto.

I was speaking to some ATI 'high up' people and they admitted that Half Life 2 and Doom3 will be faster on NVIDIA core logic.

Carmack has 1 gaming engine left in him, the one thing you can be sure of is the perfectionist will have got it right - he is an artist. See going to these NVIDIA Editor Days are good for something Managed to have a good 30 mins + with Hollenshead talking about the games and the future.
*cough* You guys who bought ATi GFX should have listened.....

Never mind doom, what about HL2 and Halo 2?
Multiplayer stuff in each looks a lot better not to mention the single player stories

if halo 2 is as bad as halo 1 then ill leave it on the shelf

    hl2 im looking forward to

but im a major carmack fan... doom quake quake 2 quake 3

one of the main reason i flew all the way to dallas TX for Quakecon was to try the doom 3 multiplayer and listen to john carmack speech

unfortunatley i have no one to go with this year to quakecon 2004,so im gonna give it a miss and go next year

And they did, both chipsets have their strengths and weaknesses, people that by £300+ of video card for just one or two games are completely mad IMHO..

Or do you want to sound like an nVidia fanboy some more?
