The single player is pretty cool, in the 2nd mission (or 3rd, cant remember) you control some Imperial Guardsmen, they're pretty crap but you can have 15 in a squad, arming them with Plasma guns or Grenade Launchers. Then they do a little bit of damage
Aquick question, on my X800Pro @ X800XT I get random texture tearing, flashes across the screen as such. This doesnt happen in any other games and I've tried different drivers, anyone else have this problem?

Lol, and to think people were sticking up for him before!
Turns out DoW doesnt like my softmodded X800 pro. Pity as this is my main game at the moment, and will be for the forseable future. Had to clock down the memory from 570 to 540.
I am hoping to get my copy of this great game today.

The Orcs as strange to use, and no mistake.
I've played a won a skirmish with each side now, and I think I'm going to go with the Eldar. The standard Guardian squad is Ok, the Seer Council is brutal in HTH, and the Avatar can slice through anything.
Marines were Ok, but seems a slightly boring copy of Chaos, without the Bloodthristers or Defiler. The Terminators, whilst well hard, were no where near as interesting to use. The Orcs were a bit crap and confusing to be honest.
Eldar for me. Now, to actually know what I'm doing... *returns to Skirmish on Easy*
Ok I'm closing this thread now as I'm away all weekend and your all winding me up about how good the game is, stop it ffs
/damn no admong powers
The orks are pretty crap early on in the game - their first unit is tailored for close combat, which makes a poor choice for holding capture points. The Orcs were a bit crap and confusing to be honest.
However, further into the game they start getting some amazing units. The Warboss is very nasty, the nob (snigger) mobs are near unstoppable and the squiggoth practically is unstoppable. The problem is that by the time you get the good units, the game could be already over.
Also, watch out for units with flamers. Orks lose morale very easily and once they're broken, you've pretty much lost that unit for good.
Try it on hard....it's bloody mentalOriginally Posted by Vaul

What about a big group of Orc Nobs and the Seer Council?
And finally, a Squigoth vs a Defiler?
Yeah, its pretty much the same as the table top game - heavy bolters and flamers for lots of troops with little armour, and lascannons and plasma guns for smaller but harder units.Originally Posted by Aaron
The Eldar Fire Prism is pretty decent - but its got such a wide blast, it sends my own troops flying off the screen if they are attacking what it fires at.
Haven't tried that yet. I'd assume bloodthirster as he's disappears after a while so he must dead hard.Has anyone had a straight one-on-one fight between the Bloodthirster and the Avatar yet? Who comes out on top?
Ork Nobs. Seer Council is very fast though. What about a big group of Orc Nobs and the Seer Council?
Squiggoth by a mile. It does cost 16,000 power to build though, so you could probably get 5 defiles for the same resources. It can take about 20 times as much damage as a force commander though! And finally, a Squigoth vs a Defiler?
The Fire Prism is very good at defending as it breaks up large attacks and breaks their morale. Using it offensively near your own troops is asking for trouble though....The Eldar Fire Prism is pretty decent - but its got such a wide blast, it sends my own troops flying off the screen if they are attacking what it fires at.
I noticed.
The Bloodthirster takes damage if he's not in battle, according to the stats. Just a very slight amount if he's not fighting all the time.
I built a Squigoth, but it kept getting stuck and wouldn't move anyway. Bloody thing.
