I find you have to expand quickly at the start then make sure you get the resource points well defended. Then the computer is just throwing troops at your bolters emplacements and dying Also make sure you get a force commander built ASAP as they can easily take out full squads of enemy troops by themselves. In the BETA I had a nightmare trying to stop eldar rushes though

Got it pre-order from play.com now only £17.99

Played a game last night on standard difficulty on the first city map. Good grief! What a scrap, started out with a struggle to expand my front. Finally managed to secure one of the bridges. Began to expand my front to grab the second brigde and just hit a continous wall of troops! It was a bloody battle to advance across the map and grab the next SP! Ended up storming his base after going through 3 predators, dreadnoughts and 4 squads of marines guarding the second bridge!

This game is a must have - it stops the building of a fortress like C&C encourags and forces you out to grab land which in turn creates a battlefront! Brilliant

I too found the intro amazing I really loved the sense of danger it gave you, it made me ready for war.
The game is great fun too I played it last night and finally won with my mighty dreadnoughts and my cunning scouts. I scouted out the enemy base and bombarded it with my whirlwinds.

3 dreadnoughts 1 force commander a librarian and throw in a tactical squad of terminators and u have won the game.

but i want to get my avator on the rip but had real trouble getting to do it when playing as the eldar. when i figure it out i will pwn this game

does ne1 remember the avator,s stats in 40k was something along the lines of
    str 10
    b,s 10
    w,s 10
    leadership 10

only thing that ever killed my avator in 3 years of wars on 40k was a joint effort by kharn the betrayer and abbadon the despoiler

but ragnar blackmane came close once till i scewered him lol

The avatar was a dan! Managed to take it out with a Hive Tyrant once, otherwise I'd use the trusty lascannon

    Geek!

It is certainly different to any RTS I've played before. The last RTS I liked was RA2, hehe.

I think I will buy it though, looks like it'll be fun online.

I really dont think anyone would be that interested in it if it was just another build/base, horde resources, zerg the enemy game. It's been done so many times, it's just tedious.

It's Warhammer. It's fast and brutal, its all about the fighting, that's the idea

I have to say I am a little concerned about how well balanced the game will be tho. I think the commander units are a little overpowered.

I thought that on the first level of the campaign included in the demo, but then I got to the straight bit when you're ambushed! I lost all my current units (except the one's gaurding my base) and 2 strategic points!

I really liked this game, the demo Level was quite a laugh (took me ages). In the tutorial I saw that terminator's were a build option, can you build them or is it just a windup, cos there was a librarian in the acual level, ?

The commander units are extremly powerful but they are the original game, they can always be defeated if you have the right units though. (eg BIG guns :E )

Terminators are in the Beta and the full game, but you cant build level 3 units in the SP demo, you cant build Land Raiders either in the SP demo.

Terminators seriously rock if you can manage to build them.

I hope they've fixed the problem with not being able to upgrade the squad before you teleport them in though. That always seemed a bit stupid in the beta.
