Update: At present, the announcement is not confirmed as being posted by Gabe Newell as his account may have been compromised.

Gabe has NOT confirmed this to valve or vivendi as they have not spoken a word. It seems as if it is a fake.

There's no need to be. Fallout forums confirmed that gabes account was hacked, gabe sent an e-mail confirming that it was a fake and valve / vivendi have no idea if it has gone gold which technically means it was all a fake
