So you are saying that 9 times out 10 making noise does something then? Double negative

My problem is not so much the DRM as the much higher price they are charging for the game over standard aaa pc Games. Even more so because as mentioned before the game will only have a limited shelf life due to the servers.

I have PC games that are nearly 10 years old that I can play now if I feel like. With Sim city as soon as the servers are switched off it sounds like the game will be useless

Kinda of reminds me of Tribes 2, but at least it wasn't crippled by EA rubbish, at least the game was fun and was worth the money I paid for

I would say the very best one was COD2, just cant beat WW2 weapons in a game, it adds so much more suspense and slows things right down. I agree with you though, after COD4 it was pure sell out.

Shame what they did after COD4, it went seriously down hill. That's why i moved to BF3 and hopefully to Arma 3 if it lives up to expectations. This is coming from someone who started off with Counterstrike 0.6 (Those were the days, the good times haha)

BF3 was when BF series went downhill.

Arma 3 is the last great FPS game that is not a console port.

So, not only was the "Our servers are required because they do most of the simulation" a complete bare-faced lie (RPS link above), people are now finding that the game engine is almost completely broken, and will never be able to support large populations due to all the programming shortcuts taken...

That doesn't sound any more authoritive than some player just thinks the AI works in a particular way. AI is a beast, and EA at least used to have some good AI guys when I last knew a couple of years ago. It's never as simple as looking at what you think it happening and deducing they've taken shortcuts.

I would have brought the game but that the fact that you cant build a city and then destroy and revert back to the old save is a deal breaker

Or you know, a fairly intelligent guy looks at the game wondering why it is broken, and finds patterns which fit that hypothesis, other users then pay more attention, and find out that the hypothesis work in almost all cases of apparent broken game mechanics..

Given the out and out BS spewed by EA, I'm more inclined to side with user observation at this point.

Get the game shipped, or spend a few more months getting the AI to work correctly/at all - We all know they'll just ship it, then think about a possible patch later, if/when enough stink has been kicked up.

Re: Sim City: Ruined by DRM?

Well i wont be buying it. Which is disappointing for me. But its not the first time i've turned away from a game because of DRM. I read an interesting point the other day that suggested that the game will only be playable as long as the EA servers are live, and that EA have a habit of pulling servers when demand falls. Im still playing my old games and am not prepared to shell out money for a game with a death sentence. EA have become so desperately greedy that they'll stop at nothing to protect their investment. For shame because they've killed a title for it.
