Dunno yet, I'll see when they give me a price..

The good thing is I can still keep my pre-order if I don't like the price and wait for the next shipment

£250-300, i see the potential , this little machine has been the dream of playstation owners for some 10 years now

EDIT: Although im prepared to pay that much, i know it wont be that much, in fact it shouldnt even hit the £200 mark, as USA will get it for something in the region of $180.

Initial ebay orders are up at around the £300 mark at the moment, I'd probably be prepared to go up to about £200 for the psp and a game..

Theres noway round the battery issue. Li-ion battery last nowhere near as long as Ni-Mh, esp if not charged or stored properly. At miimuim, they degrade about 5% per year andonly give abotu 500 charge cycles....

Ni-Nh would be cheaper and last a LOT longer, without needing to be looked after, but then you have the issue of size, esp if using standard batterys instead of one designed specifically for the device (which might happen for size considerations...).

Are you mad? There's a reason why Li-Ion and Li-Polymer have all but replaced Ni-MH in high power applications - They're smaller, lighter, have more recharge cycles, and they don't discharge in the air like Ni-MH.

The only downside is that they cost more than NiMH.

£300 for the psp seems a bit OTT for more of the same thing ( an underpowered ps2 with a screen on it). Whats all the excitment about, portable gaming has been around for years, ok, so none of the hardware b4 matched this one. However, if the psp were to outdo say the xbox in terms of performance, then i would be the first name on Lik-Sang's list. Even if you can watch movies and play music on it, its no better than the hardware out now.

I think you completely missed the potential of this little machine, this is the first time that there wont be a huge gap between home console gaming and portable gaming. From now on you wont have to take your mind back 10 years to play a portablt device, it'll just feel like you're at home again, but anywhere!

The movies and music, that was just something Sony had to do, it would be stupid if they put a memory stick slot and large media but didnt add the music and movies function

Out do the xbox? You're dreaming a bit 99% of people are probably amazed the PSP can go this far, its actually quite a miracle that we are getting anywhere near PS2, and when you compare it to Nintendo's last 2 efforts, this thing is incredible bang for buck. The main thing is we no longer have to change the way we play portable, we no longer have to sacrifice 3D for 2D, no longer have to look at a small screen, play games with poor physics etc, a true 3D competent handheld is finally here

Point well made, but I'm just one of those b*st*rds in 1% bracket I guess . If I wanna play on a ps2 i'll just go home, but I can understand the appeal for people on the go, bored on a plane etc. Yet with all these advances in the technology, we're still held back by poor battery life.

Yeah, i totally understand, i would love 10+ hours. But then that would be purely a luxury, seeing as i'd have to be a bit mental to spend 3 or even 5 hours on this machine a day

With the problems that are coming up from the jap public on the PSP it sounds like sony will be definitly releasing a reworked unit for USA and UK, and the rest of the world too , i keep forgetting about the rest of the world

    Isle of Wight.

Yeah, seems to be a few problems, but I don't think its anything more than first batch blips. These are the very first PSPs, hot off the factory floor, and bound to have more than their fair share of glitches.

Thing is, with the UK \ US release not very far away at all, and the big price drops you'll get by then, as well as obviously being able to buy UK games, no messing with imports, that maybe seems like the better idea.

well, it depends on how cheap the imports are compared to our usual rip-off market..

For instance, the Japanese Yen price converts to just under £100 for the basic pack, the latest best guess for the UK pricing is £150 for the same pack, meaning you can get the console and a couple of games for the same price as the bare UK one..

The people paying silly money on ebay will always be there, desperate to be the first at whatever the price, but, if you wait a little while you can get a much more reasonable deal, especially when you factor in the exchange rates
