As a huge Bioware fan, I have to say Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 + Inquisition. Also WoW and (oh, the shame) League of Legends for what would now be the 11 year mark. What is time anyway?

Fifa 04, 06.
Honestly I enjoyed GTA Online in the first few years. My favourite mod was to just go public lobby street racing, before they added the stunt courses. It was always a blast to race your modified street class car, before they added aerial maps with jumps and pipes
UFO: Enemy Unknown (the orignal X-Com game)
Doom
Quake
Quake III
Unreal Tournament
Battlefield 1942
MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries (completed it several times)
MechWarrior 4 (including Black Knight and Mercenaries)
Diablo 2
Shadowrun Returns series
War Thunder
BattleTech
WH40K Dawn or War (including expansion packs)
As for the old days, these are the games I spent 2+ years playing on my old BBC micro from 1980something to 1995 when I switched to PC:
Chuckie Egg
Repton 2
Repton 3 Around the World in 40 Screens
Arcadians
Galaforce
and more than all of those put together - Elite (BBC disk edition)
Hmm I only completed Microsoft's Mechwarrior 2 Mercs twice. Maybe I am missing out.
Anyway it's perhaps the most enjoyable game ever. If you haven't tried it yet, please do!

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
Repton and Chuckie Egg !
Many, many hours spent on those two, with my folks around the hallowed Electron ! Good times
In more recent years, and in no particular order:
Bubble Bobble - Favourite arcade conversion, hands down.
Bards Tale
Defender of the Crown (Sure that must have been more than 2 years - LOVED that game !)
Sid Meier’s Pirates and Civ in various incarnations
Wii Bowling - still comes out sometimes !!
Singstar (one if the only games the OH will play)
MarioKart - from SNES to Switch
Eve Online (I was quite literally addicted for several years)
WoW (Addicted for more years than I care to remember)
Modern Warfare 1
World of Tanks
FTL
Rimworld
Divinity 2 (With breaks)
I'll probably be playing some version of Crawl aka DCSS aka Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (formerly Linley's Dungeon Crawl) until my hands stop working. It's pruned away a lot of a busywork (and there's some arguments going on at the mo that they're pruning too hard) that you see in the likes of Angband and Nethack.
Age of Empires II, going on 21 years (with probably something like a 15 year hiatus ) - With the release of Definitive Edition, my friends and I have dusted it off and have spent the past year really enjoying multiplayer, the competitive scene, and relishing the nostalgia, it's great!
Oh, and, of course, Minecraft. I've been in and out of that since Alpha days before even survival was a game mode. I went though multiple years of mod pack usage going deep into some tech trees, but now I dip in and out occasionally on a vanilla server with some friends. Good fun!
I don't play it much these days (I've moved on to Stationeers), but I played a lot, probably 2+ years, of Space Engineers. As you might be able to tell, I really like a creative, engineering-y game!
In order of most recent:
Rainbow Six: Siege
Overwatch
Battlefield 4
League of Legends
Street Fighter IV
Battlefield 2 (probably played this the most. 24/7 Karkand )
Battlefield: Vietnam
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Somewhere in between I also had a phase on PS3 where I played a ton of Uncharted 2, 3 and The Last of Us (Factions) multiplayer modes. I'm mostly a PC gamer but those games were damn fun enough to draw me away for a while.
oh karkand was epic. Still got BF2 here. We shuold do a nostalgia game night at some point. I even play it with 64-way bots now and then just to destress sometimes.

Oooo Karkand..
Who remembers back in the day when graphics were less important and it was all about the game play and giving your friends abuse over comms...
Apex (01-10-2021)
Loved the shenanigans on that map, from the "humbula!" nade barrage between Hotel and Gas Station, the dolphin diving, medics shock-paddling every corpse in sight, the noobtube spam, the G36E, the broken C4 toss that had tanks speeding away in fear, to the commander "hack" that rained down Humvees and Vodniks from the sky... good times
Also, probably unpopular opinion but I miss being able to pin teams back at their spawn, aka the "base r*pe" (special mention to the merciless J-10 pilots on Wake Island!).
I should probably add Star Citizen to the list, given that I picked it up again the other day and have been playing off and on since the start...

Yeah! I still have a sweet spot for BF2 & BF2142. If you haven't already you should try the excellent Project Reality mod which is now standalone and still being updated. It's definitely one of the best PC mods ever.

I dont see Team Fortress Classic being mentined much, I think that and COD pretty much sum up my go to gaming over the years and the early battlefields of course.
