Hello,
Has anybody managed to get hold of a 7900GTX quad SLi system? If so, what difference does it make to games?
Thanks in advance!

Well from benchmarks it looks to be slower than SLi and Crossfire systems except at insanely high resolutions (bottle neck of the lower frequency for RAM and Core tbh)
Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2Ghz (400Mhzx8) 1.52V (set in bios, 1.47v real) | 4GB GeIL PC6400 4-4-4-12 | Gigabyte DQ6 @ 1600Mhz | HD2900XT 1GB | Enermax Infiniti 720W | Silverstone TJ07-B with custom watercooling | BenQ FP241WZ
3dmark05 - 13140 | 3dmark06 - 6698 | SuperPi 1M - 15s
Ok, thanks!
I heard that it reaches 32x AA, is there any point in this, at the high end resolutions?
Give the sample distribution for 32x SLI AA, it seems there's no point to it over 16x. NV hardware has fixed subpixel grids and they can't offset those enough inside each pixel, per GPU, to make 32x a big quality win over 16x.
MOLLY AND POPPY!
the quad SLi cards are GX2's not GTX's anyway from what i remember when i was looking at them
Yeah, it's 2 video cards, 4 GPU's to make Quad SLI.Originally Posted by DragonStar

Yeah... i know that, my point was that the cards are GX2's not GTX's, the actual cards just look like 2 cards stuck together from what i can remember, the point being that 4 GTX's might be something special, but 4 GX2's dont even seem to keep up with 2 GTX's except on huge screen resolutions, where the extra GPU's seem to help, plus the drivers seem quite unstable making some games actually unplayable, when they first came out there were about 6 places reviewing them, the only one to give them glowing reviews were tomshardware, the rest were quite critical.Originally Posted by Mblaster
havn't toms hardware got a review on that yet ?
While we're on the topic of GeForce.. is there any truth in the G80 coming any time soon?
http://www.techspot.com/news/20331-d...a-g80-gpu.html - most of the rumours seem to speculate autumn, late summer.

buy the latest custompc, has a good in depth review of a high end quadsli system in there...pretty damning tbh
Damning in that its cack? lol, which doesnt surprise me, all the reviews have been pretty bad for it apart from tomshardwareOriginally Posted by MrChris
I heard that nVidia didnt want people reviewing it yet as the drivers wearnt even nearly finished yet for quad sli?? Oh and Whiternoise, its a given that you get a new generation in autumn, rehash of that chip in spring, new card in autumn, rehash in spring ect ect. Its been that way for years (with the odd exception)
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
whether nVidia wants ppl reviewing or not doesnt matter, when something like quad sli comes out its going to be reviewed, people want to know how well it performs, if nVidia dont want it reviewed until the drivers are finished... dont release it until the drivers are finished, lol
