PS3 in Japan

Now the PS3 has beem launched in Japan, does anyone know what the online interface is like? Or is it not online yet?

I like the idea of subscription free online use, any SATA drive, and any third party OS. Sony being the restrictive company they are, it really is suprising to see these features...unless it's a ploy to sucker people in and then change things

Apparently the online bit of the PS3 isn't that great, Xbox Live is alot better.

PS3's online is all decentralised, it's up to the developer to provide everything to make thier game playable online, which is why games like Project 8 arn't online on the PS3 but are on the 360.

It doesn't matter one bit anyway if the PS3 is more powerful than the 360, it's all about the games. I heard anyway that the PS3 isn't really any better anyway from a developers standpoint, PS3 is more powerful in one way, 360 in another. Plus the fact that the PS3 is an absolute bitch to program for puts off some developers.

A decent start in Japan, but with a nation that is so big it's not surprising that 100,000 units are being snapped up. To be honest I'm looking forward to the PS3, if it can deliver half the amount that Sony have been bragging about then it will be great.

Who cares if it's more powerful? It's all about the games. If you like the games on PS3 then buy one, if you like games on 360, buy a 360. See where I'm going with this?

Well, I was trying to keep myself away from this Sony PS3 versus the rest of the world brawl.. but this time I have to comment..

Sometimes I figures why everyone would prefer to belittle company's like Sony despite it's product being launched fine elsewhere.. There are a few points raised here that I would like my bite on it..

1. 100,000 units, yea its low but why are we pissed? Its not even in the Europe yet.. Think about it, Xbox360 didnt launch that well anyways.. and give it time, eventually shops will have enough stock of PS3..
2. XBM versus Sony online, goodness, the Sony's version has just been launched.. Sure it'll be infrastructurally inferior to XMB.. But that does not mean its fundamentally inferior. My hunch is that both will turn out similarly well..
3. Yes, its all about the games, but I seem to feel most of the ppl here think they have rubbish games. I mean, Resistance: Fall of Man has been reviewed, and its been raved to be an excellent game, both single and multiplayer. Does that not quality it to be 'less' belittled? Xbox didnt have AAA titles when it launched anyways..
4. And who actually SAID THAT MORE POWERFUL = MORE FUN? NO one.. Why is everyone being all sarcastic about it? The guy just said its more powerful and the usual suspect I see all the time goes like.. ZOMG!! LIST ON EBAY! No pun intended..

I'm just saying, can't people be standing on a little more neutral ground? No one has used it, touched it and seen it yet (for real) here. I believe the term, You are deemed innocent until you have been proven guilty, applies here. Why belittle Sony (okay, maybe its okay for Sony), but why belittle the PS3?

I'm not Sony fan here.. But I just feel its been pretty anti-sony all round too much here...

It's been pretty anti-sony everywhere, and I think theres a new guy crowning the most hated company. But TBH, with the farce they've made of the PS3 and thier arrogance I'm not surprised theres an anti-sony vibe.

I don't think anyone is annoyed at the low launch figures but it just smacks of a bit of PR, we aren't annoyed that was a few months ago when Europe was the last territory to get it!

Resistance Fall of Man is supposed to be a good game but nothing that nobody else has not done before, the problem is Sony are hyping everything up and slating all their rivals which means there are big expectations, something at which on some level they will fail to fulfill, like the Xbox did I suppose.

There are a few trolls going on about the processing power but most people here are debating it sensibly and most are in the "lets wait and see" camp. Alcapacino is a bit of a troll here so you can pretty much ignore him. ;-)

Fair enough, but I just find all the anti-PS3 being a little 'not so sensible'..

Sony might be a total rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish.. but then PS3 deserves some form of merit for being what it is.. It may not be what a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish company calls it to be.. but still IMO its a very good product on its own..

If we all would rip that sony badge off PS3 then maybe we might be able to judge things with alot more sense than masking its potential by a company with lesser public reputation..
