mmm.... Octorok for dinner!!!!
is the Wii really that good? i havent got my hands on 1 yet and im wondering if its worth all the hype, ne1 get 1 for xmas and has played it enuf to know yet?
YES!!!!!!!!
Still just about stretching some fun out of Wii Sports.
Wii Play is worth a £5'er, but only like shooting and the cow racing.
Got Red Steel yesterday and had to stop after 10 minutes - made me feel sick.
I havent played red steel much.
HAd problem tipping up the tables lol
Still enjoying, its definitley a social console though rather than an individual one, hopefully more single player games will come out soon.
Enjoying Zelda too.
Wii Sports is going good even after a month of pretty intense competitions, its all about getting that pro-level to show off to friends!
I am really hoping that they bring out a wii sports 2 with online multiplayer. Or even a patch for this one. it would be great
Well, my missus got me a Wii for Xmas, and I've done nothing but play it.
I'm about half way through Red Steel and enjoying it. If you can accept it's a simple shoot em up with no thinking required, then it's more than enjoyable.
Wii Play keeps the missus amused for hours on end - fishing, cow racing and shooting are firm favourites.
Wii Sports kept the rest of the family and visitors amused no end, Golf is great with a few people, as is the Baseball once you get the timing sorted to hit the balls!
I say - forget the graphics, this is *not* what the Wii is about, it's just pure, utter fun which brings families together. Everyone can have a crack with a Wii, it's great
Yeah - though I've yet to see that happen. My Mii plaza is empty
has anyone seen this yet there is some great mii's on here.

Having had the Wii for a week or so now, first off the graphics are poor, fair enough I do respect the gameplay is good (on about 3 of the launch games) but I get the feeling its not got the power to last a long time visually. Before I get flamed let me say that I think a great game should have great graphics as well. Say what you will but thats just me but I know I'm not alone in my feelings (my mates were pretty dissappointed with Zelda).
The launch titles may as well not have bothered apart from Zelda, and Wii Play. Wii Sports is very good, but its starting to get tired very very quickly. I personally can't get into Zelda, and the graphics aren't helping me want to spend lots of time looking at it either. Wii Play well that last about 15 minutes - nothing I'd want to go back to there.
The rest - well having played CoD3 for a bit on a mates system, I can tell you that its a much better experience on the 360, in terms of controls, visuals, sound, actually just about everything.
Only game that interests me in coming releases that I actually think will be really good is Wario Ware Smooth Moves.
One of my 2 Wiimotes has broken, the speaker and blue lights at the bottom no longer work - being on hold for 50 minutes at a time to Nintendo warranty support really isn't a good situation.
I personally think the Wii is destined to the same fate as every other non-handheld Nintendo console since the N64, i.e. the only decent games will be the Nintendo developed ones, and the rest will be ports of other games that are worse graphically than the other available and have bodged gameplay because the developers found it hard to integrate the Wiimote well into existing games.
The Wiimote.... All the games that use its motion sensing seem to be rather "vague" to control. Wiisports being the perfect example, games such as tennis to me show the limitations of the controller, you cannot angle your shots using the Wiimote you have to "time" them to angle them... Why?
Punching in boxing as well, you hook - it doesn't, you uppercut - it doesn't.
Golf - the putting is really really odd, you can do the same movement and get 2 completely different powers on the shots. It doesn't seem to want to detect any back swing on the Wiimote either during putting.
Trying to integrate the controller into upcoming titles such as Smash Bros/Mario Kart/Mario is going to be interesting. Smash Bros requires precision movement and timing something I think is going to be hard to pull off with the Wiimote. Mario will defintely have to be slightly different to the previous games to allow it to use the Wiimote at all - you can only flick up on the Wiimote to jump so many times before it becomes boring.
I love the innovation of the Wii, and it is a blast 2 or more players, but I'm already questioning how long this fun will last. Me and My mates already don't bother with tennis as you can only hit a ball back and forth with very little control over angle for so long. I want it to suceed, but I just can't see it being a booming console in a year or two.
After taking everything into consideration and looking through the upcoming releases I've decided that mine will be going on eBay this week.
Well put Tom an excellent and a very reasonable argument, and in some respects I can certainly see what you are saying. I am suprised that you are selling it so soon without waiting a little longer to see what happens to the console.
After all not many consoles are excellent and stunning with release titles at release, certainly I wish there was more out there but I know (and to an extent I knew I would have to) that I will have to wait for better, after all it is only 1st full quarter of its release and at the moment the games are lacklustre apart from Wii Sport, Wii Play, Rayman and Zelda. I like you are concerned about the ports of better games from other platforms which are worse graphically and play wise than the original.
In terms of your control in Wii Sports I think there is a lack of depth to make it easier for new players however there is functionality there which can be used, I can slice the balls in tennis and add spin, and also in bowling but it doesn't have depth because that is for the third-party developers for example Feb/March 2007 there is a release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour which will have the depth for golf.
I can see how frustrating customer services is but that is the same for every company at the moment nto just Nintendo, nobody can get customer service right at the moment much to my chargrin!
Its a shame to be losing a Wii player but well done for trying.
Hi All
Anyone successfully got on-line with your Wii yet? If so, what set-up do you have?
I've got a wireless access point hooked up to my non-wireless ADSL router and I can't get it to work. The documentation simply says you need a wireless router, so I don't know if my combination should work or not!
