Whats to get excited about though? pictures? videos? marketting hype? I had no interest in the 360 until i actually played on it. When its out and the hype is in full swing, i am willing to bet most of those who berrated it will want one aswel.

I cant wait to play it. I dont trust reviews of launch games after gamespot and ign both heaped praise on the abysmal perfect dark zero but i can help but be excited by resistance fall of man.

I think people are discounting it simply because of the reaction of most users that have got them, which seems to have been luke-warm at best, apparantly theres free stock on the shelves in the USA/Japan now - you don't see that with the Wii.

I think the other reason the PS3 is being so slated is because its got very little innovation and its not actually doing anything the 360 can't do , well apart from Betamax, sorry I mean BluRay . The games for the 360 are already a generation of development ahead of the PS3 now.

I'll pick one up if they do get some good games I can't get on the 360, but theres only one Sony exclusive title that catches my eye nowadays, and thats Gran Turismo, and £425 for a GT machine is a bit expensive!

I think the main reason there is a lack of excitment for the ps3 is simply beacuse there has been so much hype, so much swagger, that it just might not be all its been hyped up to be.

currently the multi format games that are on both platforms dont seem to be any better looking on the ps3 than the 360, infact, several gaming sites have placed the 360 versions of games as looking a bit nicer, or certainly, offering a more fluid experience.

i dont buy the fight night round 3 argument, the ps3 version had 10 months and a diffrent development house to see it through to retail, and its obviouse they will make it look nicer, i certainly dont put it down to the hardware.

in the future, as devs learn to get the best from cell, ps3 may pull ahead regarding the diffrence of visuals etc between it and the 360. currently the 360 probably has the edge due to the ease of pregramming making it very easy for devs to make some jaw dropping games on it.

on thing i think is worth noting though is that at the big resolutions, like 1080i/p, on a pc platform we would have broken cpu limitation and hit the GPU limitation area instead. Now, and maybe im wrong, my understanding is that the R500 in x360 is faster than the g70 dirrivative in ps3. so perhapse the cpu power advantage that cell has will be negated futher by the fact that at 1080i/p, the GPU has the deciding vote. id appreciate thauhgts on that one.

Regardless, your right, the playstation brand certainly has delivered, and infact excelled in the past, and im sure ps3 will be a great gaming experience for those who go that route. in that respect, it is suprising to see such hostility towards sonys new wonder machine.

But i truly think m$ are a force to be reccond with this time.

im not againts sony even though it seems i am but hey im no fanboy on MS either, i just have a mentality to buy the best product i feel is the best for my needs and budget and the 360 offers that for me.

think about it, which one would you buy come march, a ps3 with very little difference in graphics term and very little games out for it againts 360 which has tons of great games andan even cheaper price than a ps3.

think I will stick to my pc, with better quality games and the freedom to run in what ever res I chose, including 3000*2400 or something stupid if I had an array of lcd's..

oh and £80 per game in order to subsidise the hardware doesn't really work imo... consoles are going too far..

so you've never heard of PC games with a fixed list of supported resolutions? isn't it EA games that do this every bloody time?

£80 per game? i don't think that's happened since the neo geo aes in the mid 1990s. it's certainly not the case with the xbox 360, playstation 3, or wii. £20-£45 is closer the mark. more expensive than on pc? by £10 a game, give or take. comparing the cost of an xbox 360 (£280) to a decent gaming pc that will do 1920x1080 smoothly (~£900), you'd need to be buying 62 games for the pc to be "cheaper" - ignoring the shorter upgrade cycle on a pc versus consoles.

The reason i dislike the PS3 is because it's still using the hand crippling dual shock 2, which IMHO is the worst controller ever devised. It's a rip off of a SNES controller with two 'crippler' grips added on. Do they not test these things for more than 5 mins, its the same with the PSP, designed to keep hand doctors in business.
